Full Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for working in collaboration with the Medical Director and Medical Team to provide treatment for all clients. In addition to working with the Medical team, PMHNPs are responsible for clinical collaboration to insure safe and effective client care.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

1. EDUCATION:

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing with a Psychiatric concentration

2. EXPERIENCE:

2+ years of medical treatment for those with Substance Use Disorder preferred

3. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

PMHNP-BC

4. KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING REQUIRED AT TIME OF HIRE:
  • Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems
  • Knowledge of licensure and accreditation standards.
  • Knowledge of dual diagnosis and substance abuse treatment.
  • Medication Training and Knowledge

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
  • Meet with all new clients and assist the clinical team to build the client's treatment plan. When meeting with the clients for the first time, a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation must be completed.
  • Complete all comprehensive assessments and medical assessment that are needed.
  • Diagnose clients who have psychiatric complications and continue treatment for each diagnosis.
  • Medication management for clients who are already prescribed medications at admission or medication prescribed with us.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's specific needs.
  • Meet with PHP clients weekly and IOP/OP clients bi-weekly for medication reviews and follow ups. If there are changes to medications and/or increase or decrease of dosage to a medication, the client will need to be seen within three days.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members when making appropriate referrals
  • Facilitate psychoeducation groups surrounding medication management, mental health disorders, and other groups of your choice that coincide with the clinical care provided.
