Job Summary The Physician Assistant (PA-C) chosen for this position will provide care to our hospitalized patients primarily on our inpatient oncology service, with options for cross-coverage responsibilities on our inpatient units and possible option to work primary care with treatment to a group of patients in a clinic or hospital unit. This dynamic and challenging position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills. The PA will work with a high level of autonomy as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team to provide care to patients with complex oncological malignancies who often also possess a wide range of comorbidities and internal medicine complications. Schedule is variable but will include days, weekends, and swing shifts.

Responsibilities Essential Functions:- Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians.
- Performs physical examinations.
- Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures.
- Orders and supervises the administration of blood products.
- Reaches tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions.
- Develops treatment plans in conjunction with attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management.
- Participates in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards and conferences.
- Assists in the collection of data for research projects.
- Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.
- Participates in special projects and committee functions.

- Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
Minimum Qualifications Required:- Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant from the State of Utah.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Preferred:- Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
