Description

Agile Space Industries is seeking an experienced Propulsion Test Technician III/IV to support propulsion test operations at our Durango, Colorado test facility. In this role, you will play a critical hands-on role in the assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of propulsion test stands and supporting infrastructure used for spacecraft thruster and engine testing.

Test Technicians at this level are expected to independently support complex test operations, troubleshoot fluid and mechanical systems, and provide technical leadership to other technicians during test campaigns and facility work. This role works closely with propulsion test engineers to ensure test systems are prepared, maintained, and operated safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate thrives in hands-on environments involving high-pressure fluid systems, hazardous materials, and dynamic testing operations, and enjoys solving technical problems in real time.

This position requires comfort working outdoors year-round in a propulsion test environment, including extreme temperatures, loud environments, and hazardous operations.

Responsibilities
  • Support daily propulsion test operations including test stand preparation, hardware installation, and test execution
  • Lead installation and removal of propulsion test articles including thrusters, valves, and associated hardware

Perform fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of test stand infrastructure including:
  • Propellant feed systems and fluid tubing
  • Helium and nitrogen pressurization systems
  • Cryogenic systems including liquid nitrogen vaporization
  • Mechanical test fixtures and ground support equipment
  • Instrumentation installation and integration


  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, fluid, and facility system issues that impact test operations
  • Support propellant loading operations and hazardous fluid handling procedures
  • Lead decontamination of propulsion hardware and test stand systems following test operations
  • Support fabrication and modification of test stands, piping systems, and facility infrastructure
  • Maintain and improve test stand readiness through preventative maintenance and system upgrades
  • Assist engineers with setup and execution of test procedures and instrumentation configuration
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians
  • Ensure all operations follow established procedures, safety requirements, and quality documentation
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and operations records
  • Work independently or lead small teams of technicians to complete facility or test operations tasks
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required

5+ years of hands-on technical experience working with mechanical, fluid, or industrial systems

Strong experience working with high-pressure fluid systems, tubing installation, and mechanical assemblies

Ability to read and work from technical drawings, procedures, and schematics

Demonstrated troubleshooting ability with mechanical systems, fluid systems, and test infrastructure

Comfortable working around hazardous fluids, pressurized systems, and high-risk test environments

Ability to operate safely using PPE including SCBA when required

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Level Definitions

Test Technician III

Senior technician capable of independently supporting propulsion test operations and troubleshooting test stand systems.

Typically 5-8 years of relevant technical experience.

The expected salary range for this role is $29-$43 an hour. Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity, and is typically made within the midrange, rather than the upper end.

Test Technician IV

Highly experienced technician serving as a technical lead during test campaigns and facility upgrades.

Typically 8+ years of relevant technical experience and demonstrated ability to lead technicians and support complex test operations.

The expected salary range for this role is $34-$51 an hour. Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity, and is typically made within the midrange, rather than the upper end.
