Job Overview & ResponsibilitiesUnited Launch Alliance is seeking a Propulsion Systems Engineer to join our Vulcan Centaur development team. This engineering function provides design, systems integration, subcontract management, product technical support and anomaly resolution for the Propulsion fluids systems (cryogenic, non-cryogenic, hydraulics, and pneumatics).
• Develop sub-system and component designs and requirements to satisfy overall propulsion systems requirements.
• Perform system integration and system level trade studies to optimize designs for manufacturing, producibility and performance.
• Generate engineering drawings or changes as well as assembly and testing requirements.
• Provide direct support to suppliers, factory and the launch site to ensure production schedules are met, anomalies are resolved and operations are streamlined to improve efficiency.
• Perform causal analysis that leads to effective resolution and corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
• Review the as-built product (hardware and associated software) and product test data to certify that the final product configuration and performance meets requirements and is ready for test and/or flight.
• Develop design improvements that reduce cost and risk and/or improve vehicle performance.
Required EducationBachelor
Required Years of ExperienceMinimum of 4 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Attention to detail with ability to work in fast-paced development environment.
• Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or fluid systems design, analysis, integration, or testing.
• Understanding of fluid mechanics, structural analysis, and mechanical system design principles.
• Experience developing engineering drawings, specifications, or technical documentation.
• Experience troubleshooting technical issues and supporting root cause/corrective action investigations.
• Ability to interpret engineering requirements and verify system or component compliance through analysis, inspection, or testing.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, suppliers, testing, or operations organizations.
Preferred Qualifications• Ability to perform stress, fluids and/or thermodynamics analyses in support of your designs
• Proficient with mechanical design utilizing NX and Teamcenter
• Proficient with Microsoft Office platform tools and Project integrations skills
• Utilization of agile processes in a development program environment
Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denveronly): $104,087.00 - $173,479.00
