Full Job Description
Role Summary

In this position, you will be responsible for the definition, coordination, and technical integrity of software subsystems embedded in Powertrain Electronic Control Units (ECUs). These ECUs-such as Engine Control Module -are mission-critical components enabling performance, efficiency, and safety of hybrid vehicles.

You will operate at the system and subsystem architecture level, contributing from early concept and pre-development through series production, in close collaboration with global engineering teams and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Ownership

Define and implement the ECU subsystem design in line with Stellantis technical policies and vehicle-level requirements.

Translate subsystem input specifications into robust and scalable technical solutions.

Ensure consistency across software, hardware, and network interfaces (ECUs, sensors, actuators).

Embedded Software & ECU Coordination

Oversee the ECU subsystem design and development strategy for propulsion ECUs.

Coordinate closely with ECU technical leaders to ensure:
  • Proper allocation of software functions
  • Alignment with vehicle and system constraints
  • Timely delivery of software-related artifacts

Interfaces, Networks & System Integration

Ensure coherence of interfaces including:
  • Vehicle networks (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet)
  • Sensors, actuators, and wiring
  • Hardware-software interfaces

Support distributed system design, where functions span multiple ECUs.

Validation, Reviews & Compliance
  • Lead and participate in technical design reviews to assess subsystem maturity.
  • Ensure requirements compliance and validation with suppliers and internal partners.
  • Contribute to supplier engagement activities, including:

Technical specifications
  • Architecture and solution justifications
  • Technical decision and trade-off documentation

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as a key technical interface across internal teams, projects, and external partners.
  • Support convergence of functional and technical needs in a global development environment.
  • Participate in project and ECU-level coordination meetings.

Reuse, Capitalization & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive reuse of proven and generic solutions to reduce complexity and design variability.
  • Contribute to best practices, lessons learned, and technical documentation (design guides, standards, processes).
  • Support continuous improvement of Stellantis' technical frameworks.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of related experience
  • Experience in embedded systems or software architecture
  • Automotive experience preferred; candidates from aerospace or other embedded industries will be considered

Technical Skills

  • Strong background in distributed E/E architectures
  • Solid understanding of automotive communication networks (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet)
  • Hands-on or architectural experience with AUTOSAR (required)
  • Experience with system-level functional allocation across ECUs
  • Foundational knowledge of Artificial Intelligence concepts is a plus

Soft Skills & Attributes

  • Strong system-level and architectural thinking
  • Ability to operate across technical depth and high-level abstraction
  • Effective communicator in cross-functional and multicultural teams
  • Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented
