Proposal Specialist - Construction

Location: Etobicoke, Ontario

A well-established construction firm specializing in renovation, addition and improvement projects is seeking a Proposal Specialist to support its continued growth. The organization has built its reputation through ethical business practices, strong industry partnerships and long-standing relationships with clients, consultants and trades.

This position is ideal for an experienced proposal professional who can take ownership of multiple submissions, coordinate input from various contributors and produce polished, persuasive documents under firm deadlines.

The Role

The Proposal Specialist will coordinate and prepare responses to Requests for Proposals, Requests for Qualifications, Expressions of Interest and other business-development opportunities. Responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing procurement documents to identify submission requirements, evaluation criteria and key messaging opportunities.
  • Developing proposal outlines, themes and response strategies that clearly communicate the organization's experience and capabilities.
  • Writing, editing and proofreading technical and corporate content to create accurate and compelling submissions.
  • Managing several proposal files concurrently, each at a different stage of development.
  • Coordinating information, resumes, project profiles and supporting materials from internal team members.
  • Maintaining consistency in formatting, tone, branding and overall presentation quality.
  • Organizing final reviews and overseeing the completion and production of submission documents.
  • Updating standard proposal content and supporting additional marketing and business-development initiatives as needed.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring:

  • A post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in communications, marketing, business, journalism, technical writing or a related discipline.
  • Approximately two to five years of Canadian professional experience in proposal development, corporate writing or a comparable role.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and producing formal proposals from initial review through final submission.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading abilities, including the ability to develop original technical and business content without relying on artificial intelligence.
  • Excellent reading comprehension and the ability to interpret detailed submission requirements.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with close attention to accuracy and presentation.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Previous exposure to the construction, engineering or professional-services sector would be considered an asset.
