Property & Casualty Insurance Manager (Hybrid)

Starting Salary Range: $101,504 - $105,000

The State Corporation Commission (SCC) seeks a Property & Casualty Insurance Manager who has a passion for public service and an interest in regulating insurance to provide Virginians with access to reliable insurance protection. Joining the Property and Casualty (P&C) Division within the SCC's Bureau of Insurance, the P&C Manager oversees the daily operations of the Personal Lines Rules, Rates and Forms section, which reviews and analyzes rules, rates, and form filings applicable to 23 personal lines of insurance to determine compliance with Virginia insurance laws and regulations. Based in Richmond, Virginia, the SCC offers a hybrid work schedule, generally 3 days of teleworking and 2 days in the office per week, as well as professional development opportunities including continuing education, certifications, and designations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide daily people management, operational oversight, coordination, and guidance for the Personal Lines team of approximately 4 staff
  • Function as a working manager in the review of rules, rate and form filings
  • Develop staff in-person and virtually, identify key talent to fill critical roles, facilitate knowledge transfer, and conduct performance appraisals
  • Lead meetings and various projects
  • Participate in the development, drafting, and review of legislation, administrative letters/orders, and other regulatory guidance documents
  • Participate in the development of internal policies, procedures, and guidelines for rates and/or form filings
  • Assist in the implementation and enforcement of new statutes and regulations
  • Prepare and manage the reporting of monthly and annual activities to senior management
  • Communicate with regulated entities and industry partners as needed
  • Perform other related work as required
