Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.

Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery late this year. We're seeking an experienced candidate to be the Workface Planning (AWP) Manager on a power generation project in Pecos, Texas. You will mobilize on a long-term (camp) assignment to the project in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.

Job Summary:

As the Workface Planning (AWP) Manager for the installation of multiple General Electric 7HA Simple Cycle power generating systems, you will be part of the Field Engineering team reporting to the Project Field Engineer. In this role, you will lead and manage construction automation efforts for complex projects, using database management, programming skills, and 3D tools. You will establish and administer the portfolio of construction automation applications on the jobsite and data requirements. You will review performance and recommend adjustments to tailor solutions to support strategy and compliance. #LI-SP1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops the Advanced Work Packaging execution plan for the project to define program-level delivery across all AWP functions.
  • Identifies gaps in IWP planning and proactively seeks collaboration across project EPC organizations.
  • Participates in project front-end planning, detailed engineering, and IWP execution phase of Advanced Work Packaging to maximize program impact across project lifecycle phases.
  • Implements the Advanced Work Packaging execution plan across the project to deliver program-level AWP outcomes.
  • Leads Installation Work Package scoping and sequencing across multiple disciplines on the project to deliver coordinated planning.
  • Leads collaboration with field supervision and field engineering on detailed IWP planning to allow supervision to focus on managing field work.
  • Coordinates removal of engineering and procurement constraints across the assigned project to enable execution of Installation Work Packages.
  • Directs Advanced Work Packaging activities of assigned construction AWP staff to ensure compliance with procedures and standards
  • Monitors KPIs for the Advanced Work Packaging program to evaluate delivery performance against project objectives.
  • Validates Level 3 schedule-derived Required on Site (ROS) dates to support Level 4/5 scheduled implementation activities
  • Maintains Level 4 IWP (Integrated Work Package) Schedule and Interdisciplinary Logics of IWPs with Project Controls function.
  • Maintains material Required on Site (ROS) Dates based on changes to Level 4 IWP Schedule.
  • Partners with EPC automation personnel on BSAP configuration to enable execution of Installation Work Packages.
  • Optimizes planning and database applications, including Primavera, Synchro 4D, Navisworks, ModelBuilder, Book Builder, TEAMWorks, Setroute, and Xfighter, to deliver an integrated program across the project.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Possesses in-depth understanding of Advanced Work packaging concepts and terminology.
  • Possesses knowledge of and prior experience working with a variety of software tools and database applications- such as Primavera, Synchro4D, Navisworks, Model Builder, Book Builder, Teamworks, Setroute and Xfighter.
  • Previous experience in Engineering, Startup, Field Engineering or Project Controls is beneficial.
  • Coordinates across disciplines and functions both peer to peer and vertically to develop execution strategies.
  • Communicates execution plans and strategies to project and site management, stakeholders and customer personnel where appropriate.
  • Capable of summarizing large amounts of project data into clear and concise reports to interface with personnel of varying backgrounds and skill sets.
  • Ability to think "outside the box" to assist in resolving challenges and roadblocks.
