Description

Project Surveyor - Rochester, NY

Rochester's continued investment in transportation infrastructure, municipal improvements, utility projects, and land development creates strong demand for experienced surveying professionals who can deliver accurate data that drives successful project outcomes.

This is an opportunity for a licensed survey professional who enjoys technical ownership, mentoring team members, solving complex boundary challenges, and making a visible impact on projects throughout New York.

What You'll Do
  • Supervise survey technicians, field crews, and CADD technicians assigned to project teams.
  • Perform routine and complex survey calculations and control adjustments.
  • Conduct, assign, and support records research activities.
  • Perform, assign, and review CADD drafting assignments.
  • Analyze boundary evidence, parcel records, and right-of-way documentation to determine property boundaries.
  • Determine and document property boundaries, easements, land ownership information, and related survey findings.
  • Develop topographic surveys and mapping deliverables to support planning, engineering, and design efforts.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and facilitate project deliverables to ensure an outstanding customer experience.
  • Provide QA/QC review of survey work across multiple market sectors.
  • Mentor and support less experienced members of the survey team.


Requirements

What We're Looking For
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in land surveying.
  • Professional Survey License required.
  • Experience using surveying software and equipment including AutoCAD, GPS, total stations, and data collectors.
  • Knowledge of boundary determinations, control adjustments, topographic surveying and mapping, NYSDOT Standards and Procedures, and ALTA requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to project sites throughout New York.
  • Ability to access construction sites, traverse uneven terrain, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation.

Compensation + Benefits

Hourly pay range: $40-$50/hour
