Gilbane is seeking a DOB certified Project Superintendent to independently supervise an area of trade contractors with work valued up to $30M. This position will be on the construction job site every day and will fill a key role on the project team. 

• Directs the day-to-day coordination of Gilbane’s trade partners and their sub-contractors to ensure high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule
• Develops, documents, and communicates the work plan regarding changes made in the field
• Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents in order to proactively anticipate potential problems
• Participates in constructability review and identifies change impacts
• Obtains or verifies that subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes
• Acts as primary safety representative in the field
• Establishes credibility among owners, trade contractors, unions, and other project partners by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
• Leads contractor meetings on a regular basis
• Maintains daily reports and documentation using software tools
• Creates, manages, and updates the project schedule, creating and implementing contingency plans when necessary
• Communicates schedule status, updates and changes to project team and trade contractors
• Plans, coordinates, and manages jobsite logistics
• Oversees project quality plan, completes inspections, and implements necessary changes
• Communicates with Site Services/Next 150 to order materials and schedule crew
• Coaches and mentors less Field Engineers on project needs, construction knowledge, and business acumen
• Understands scopes of work; assists in writing scopes of work and participates in buyout
• Assists in Time and Materials (T&M) tracking
• Leads stretch and flex, daily huddle, and pre-task plan reviews
• Supports a positive and inclusive work environment
• May be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• 5 to 10 years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial and/or industrial construction projects valued at $15 million to $30 million+
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification required
• Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STS-C) certification preferred
• Current NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) Registered Construction Superintendent certification required
• Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Stop the Bleed training
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered

• Construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction
• Experience and proficiency in multiple divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control
• Strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan
• Ability to create an environment where “safety first” is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude
• Understanding of general requirements financial forecasting

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

For New York City, NY,  this ranges from $115,000.00-$145,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
