Full Job Description
We're looking for a Project Sales Executive who can lead project sales by building relationships with both general contractors (GCs) and building owners, managing the entire sales cycle, from prospecting and estimating to closing and handoff to operations. This is a solution-based selling role, ideal for someone who understands how to guide clients through technical decision-making and adds long-term value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop HVAC project opportunities through both general contractor partnerships and direct-to-owner relationships.
  • Conduct thorough site evaluations and engage clients in solution-focused conversations to understand their building needs and goals.
  • Lead or collaborate on takeoffs, mechanical estimates, and proposal development with the internal estimating and preconstruction teams.
  • Deliver compelling, customized proposals that highlight technical solutions and ROI for commercial HVAC projects.
  • Maintain strong, proactive relationships with GCs, construction managers, property owners, developers, and engineers.
  • Own the entire sales process, including prospecting, estimating input, closing, and internal handoff to operations/project management.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and forecasting using CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
  • Represent Nielsen Mechanical at industry events, trade shows, pre-bid meetings, and other networking opportunities.
  • Provide strategic feedback to management on market trends, competitor activity, and new opportunities.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of HVAC project sales experience, with proven results in both GC and owner-direct channels.
  • Solid understanding of boilers, chillers, air systems, and the commercial HVAC project cycle.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and perform basic takeoffs and scope reviews.
  • Strong familiarity with both plan/spec and design-build sales environments.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-step sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
  • A consultative, solution-based selling mindset-focused on solving problems, not just bidding work.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to work independently while coordinating closely with internal teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary $105K - $125K + performance-based commission/bonus (uncapped potential).
  • Company vehicle allowance and reimbursement for business-related expenses.
  • Comprehensive health benefits: medical, dental, and vision.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Ongoing training, professional development, and growth opportunities.
  • 2 weeks PTO and 6 paid holidays
