Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Project Portfolio Manager, EHR - Remote oversees multi-project initiatives that deliver transformative business outcomes within the Project Management Office (PMO). This role orchestrates interrelated projects, aligns executive stakeholders, and manages program-level risks and dependencies. The Project Portfolio Manager serves as a trusted advisor to leadership, mentors project managers, and ensures initiatives deliver against strategic goals.
Essential Functions- Oversees multiple interrelated projects as a unified program with strategic business value.
- Chairs steering committees and communicates effectively with executive stakeholders.
- Drives cross-project dependency alignment, resource planning, and timeline negotiation.
- Mentors and advises project managers on delivery methods and execution challenges.
- Manages program-level budgets, KPIs, and benefits tracking.
- Leads vendor negotiations and external partner collaboration.
- Represents the program in strategic planning discussions and governance reviews.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- This is a fully remote aside from some travel, there will be an average of one trip per month, typically occurring Monday through Thursday to visit facility sites.
Required:- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or related required
- 5-7 years of experience in project and/or program management required
- Expert in PPM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira) required
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI or obtained within six (6) months of employment required
Preferred:- 10 + years of healthcare IT experience highly preferred
- 3 + years of program management experience highly preferred
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) implementations highly preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Deep expertise in managing complex, multi-workstream programs with cross-functional and cross-organizational dependencies.
- Operates independently with minimal oversight, owning the end-to-end delivery of large programs and portfolios.
- Strong leadership skills in managing one-on-one relationships with Project Managers; acts as a technical and delivery mentor.
- Proven ability to negotiate and influence outcomes with vendors, executives, and key stakeholders.
- Advanced skills in enterprise budgeting, forecasting, and cost control across interdependent projects.
- Expert in program-level risk and issue management, with the ability to proactively develop mitigation and contingency strategies.
- Skilled at orchestrating executive presentations, reporting on KPIs, and translating program health into actionable insights.
