Responsibilities

  • Present concise updates on project status addressing complex issues across various domains.
  • Conduct complex analyses for problem-solving and developing innovative action strategies.

Overview

Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) is seeking a Project Owner to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

  • This is a multi-level posting. Candidate(s) selected to receive an offer will be offered the position and salary grade level commensurate with their experience and qualifications.

This Project Owner will be assigned to the Tank Farms Facility and is responsible for leading, directing and integrating work groups and organizations assigned to complex, multi-year, multi-facility improvement work scope. Provides consultation and work execution support to multiple Facility Managers (FM)/Project Directors providing leadership and oversight to project interfaces and facility support organizations. May be assigned to more than one work scope concurrently as workload allows.

Responsibilities
  • Integrates and manages resources for assigned project(s) by contributing to the establishment of criteria, staffing plans, and schedules to support Facility operations and achieving milestones including mission critical activities
  • Effectively manages activities of multiple functional groups (engineering, maintenance, operations, radcon and construction) to ensure output meets technical, cost and schedule objectives
  • Contacts groups on a daily basis to provide management direction and receive feedback
  • Resolves conflicts between direction and technical issues from the functional groups
  • Fosters a "team concept" when interfacing with Operations, Maintenance, Construction, Engineering, other support groups and the Department of Energy, and attends scheduled and unscheduled meetings, provides reports, statuses construction activities and identifies, addresses and resolves complex problems
  • Interfaces with SRMC management, external and internal customers, including DOE facility personnel and DNFSB
  • Provides concise and accurate presentations to internal and external customers regarding status, including complex technical, organizational and financial issues.
  • Conducts considerably complex analysis of problems involving numerous disciplines/functional groups. Develops innovative alternative action strategies enabling the early achievement of milestones. Performs risk analyses and provides decision authority for defining and approving corrective actions and establishing priorities
  • Establishes and manages several moderately complex diverse teams, providing direction, and establishing priorities needed to integrate numerous ongoing projects. Manages cost, schedule, and scope, while adhering to Site quality, environmental, and safety objectives
  • Fosters a nuclear safety culture which enhances behavior-based safety and personal accountability
  • Ensures operational requirements (including maintainability, training, operating procedures, etc.) are appropriately identified and incorporated into design, planning and execution.
  • Ensures support activities are aligned with the facility integrated schedule and that operations, training, procedures, engineering and maintenance activities are supported by the responsible work group
  • Aids in determination of when turnover to Operations is acceptable and responsible for timely execution of turnover process
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical or science degree and related experience; or
  • Bachelors degree in a non-technical discipline and related experience; or
  • High School Diploma or GED and a combination of secondary education and/or experience in work control, materials management, operations, and maintenance related areas (combined)

  • Position may only be filled with approval from applicable Project Director and Compensation Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Operations experience working in a nuclear facility/site
  • Maintenance experience working in a nuclear facility/site
  • Work Management experience working in a nuclear facility/site
  • Broad understanding of environmental laws and regulations, DOE orders and knowledge of SRS and company policies
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including direct people management
  • Understanding of Site work control (work practices), radiological controls, quality assurance, configuration management, material controls and procedures for both maintenance and operations related areas
  • Project Management experience
