YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:As a Project Manager, your responsibilities will encompass:
- Managing water and wastewater engineering projects from initial planning and design through bidding and construction.
- Leading the design and rehabilitation of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pipelines, pumping stations, and related utility infrastructure.
- Developing project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and deliverables.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for clients and maintaining strong relationships throughout project delivery.
- Coordinating project activities with clients, regulatory agencies, utility owners, subconsultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Leading and mentoring engineers and technical staff while coordinating workloads and project assignments.
- Reviewing engineering calculations, plans, specifications, technical reports, cost estimates, and other design documents.
- Providing technical direction throughout project planning, design, permitting, bidding, and construction.
- Managing project budgets, schedules, invoicing, staffing, and overall financial performance.
- Coordinating permitting and regulatory requirements with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Conducting and participating in project meetings, design reviews, site visits, and field investigations.
- Overseeing bid-phase and construction-phase engineering activities, including reviewing submittals and shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and evaluating design changes.
- Identifying project challenges and developing effective approaches to maintain progress and meet client objectives.
- Assisting the department manager with proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and project schedules.
- Developing and maintaining client relationships and identifying opportunities for new and continuing work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and abilities:
- A bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience managing the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems and associated design standards
- Demonstrated experience managing project scope, schedule, budget, and technical deliverables
- Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam Revu, ArcGIS, WaterCAD, SewerGEMS, and EPANET
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Experience leading engineers, designers, and other technical staff
- Strong client relationship and project coordination skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Experience working with WSSC Water, Washington Aqueduct, DC Water, Baltimore City DPW, Prince George's County, and/or Montgomery County
- Experience with water and sewer rehabilitation and replacement, pumping stations, pipeline design, utility coordination, and condition assessment projects.
