Job DescriptionWho will you be working with?You will work closely with a cross-functional Project Core Team that includes engineering, quality, field services, finance, procurement, and operations representatives across multiple sites and regions. This team partners with internal stakeholders such as Site Managing Directors, Function Directors, and the Group PMO, as well as external customers, contractors, and subcontractors. Together, you will ensure successful project execution in a global, multicultural railway environment.
How will you make a difference?As a member of the
Brakes & Couplers Project Management group, you will be responsible for leading and driving project execution from initiation through completion, ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements. You will serve as the primary customer contact, managing relationships and expectations while coordinating internal resources.
In this role, you will lead and animate cross-functional project teams, applying structured project management processes such as risk and opportunity management, contract and claim management, and change management. You will oversee financial performance in partnership with project financial controllers, ensuring strong forecasting, margin management, and cash flow outcomes.
Additionally, you will play a key role during the bid phase, ensuring project execution strategies are clearly defined and aligned prior to project launch. You will regularly communicate project performance to leadership and ensure adherence to best practices, tools, and reporting standards.
What will your typical day look like?- Lead and coordinate Project Core Team activities to ensure successful project execution
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring alignment and satisfaction
- Manage all aspects of project execution including scheduling, risk and opportunity management, and change management
- Oversee contract compliance and manage claims as needed
- Monitor and drive project financial performance in partnership with financial controllers
- Provide regular project reporting to internal leadership and external stakeholders
- Support bid phase activities by developing project execution plans
- Oversee field implementation and commissioning activities in coordination with field services teams
- Monitor fleet performance during warranty and manage retrofit activities if required
- Ensure adherence to project management best practices, tools, and reporting standards (e.g., MOMs, OILs, PPRs)
- Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned (REX) into future projects
- Support development and training of project team members
What about the physical demands of the job?This role may require occasional travel to project sites, customer locations, or company facilities. Activities may include standing, walking project sites, observing equipment and technical details, and participating in field inspections. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in certain environments.
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between $91,100 - $129,800 USD. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus. QualificationsWhat do we want to know about you?Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Railway), or related field
- 5+ years of project management experience within the railway or transit industry
- Strong technical knowledge of brake and coupler systems; prior experience as a Project Engineer preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-site, and multicultural projects
- Fluency in English required; Korean language skills strongly preferred
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience working with Korean customers and understanding of Korean business culture
- Strong background in financial management including budgeting, forecasting, EAC/FAC (future ETC), FCF, and margin control
- Proven ability to manage customer relationships, contractors, and subcontractors
- Strong understanding of engineering, technical, and quality processes
- Experience in quality control and assurance practices
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
