Full Job Description
The RK&K Utilities Group is in search of a dynamic, self-motivated Project Manager that is interested in joining a strong team of designers and engineers working on a diverse range of natural gas and utility-related projects, including an exciting variety of small, medium, large and mega projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

In this role, you will work closely with the Project Delivery Leader and other team members to execute work involving utility engineering principals and other related activities. You will assist with planning, design and construction efforts on a variety of engineering projects with a focus on utility improvement, relocation, and coordination. Utility design development may also include overhead and underground utilities that are associated with the development of projects such as transportation improvements, infrastructure upgrades, and site/civil development. The candidate should be generally familiar with underground and overhead utilities including electric water, sewer, storm drains, telecommunications, cable TV, fiber, natural gas, and steam. Knowledge of septic and water well system design practices are a plus but not required.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for gas transmission and distribution projects
  • Preparation and review of technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents
  • Participation with business development and presentations
  • Direct and assist with the development of project staff and subconsultants
  • Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans
  • Perform utility record document research and utility field investigations when required
  • Prepare detailed engineering plans, specifications, permit packages, and cost estimates
  • Review utility owner policies and procedures
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with clients, utility owners, project teams including other disciplines, such as architects, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical designers, cost estimators, GIS technicians, other utility design professionals
  • Organize and coordinate subsurface utility engineering tasks with subcontractors to obtain record utility documents, review utility designation results and evaluate test pit/test hole reports

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field
  • Ten (10) or more years preferred of progressive project experience in the study, design, construction, or operations of natural gas transmission and distribution systems. Subject matters may include, but are not limited to:
    • Distribution infrastructure replacements (mains & services)
    • District Regulator Stations
    • Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)
    • Gas transmission planning, feasibility studies, engineering, and construction
    • Design of inline inspection facilities
    • Gate stations and compressor stations
    • Cathodic Protection
    • Trenchless technologies (HDD, Auger Boring, etc.)
  • Knowledge of project permitting requirements
  • A self-starter, versatile and interested in working on a variety of projects supporting the Utility Design Group
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for initiating plan reviews, QA/QC processes, and project team collaborations
  • Proficiency with Cadd platforms that include Micro Station/ Inroad and Autocad/Civil 3D

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of OpenRoads Designer or Revit applications is a plus but not required
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License is preferred but not required

Pay range: $120,000- $160,000 annually- Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
