The University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a .Project Manager. The Project Manager oversees the planning, implementation, and tracking of a variety of projects to ensure the successful development, completion, and implementation of department projects and initiatives.
Core Job Functions:1. Defines the scope of projects in conjunction with leadership.
2. Discusses the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
3. Determines the resources required to complete each project.
4. Establishes and documents comprehensive project plans and timelines, which identify and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete projects.
5. Reviews project schedules with leadership and other staff that will be affected by the project activities.
6. Monitors the progress of the projects and makes adjustments to ensure successful completion.
7. Consults with the appropriate leadership on the selection of staff to assist with projects.
8. Assigns project task to the identified project team for handling.
9. Ensures all project personnel receive orientation that is appropriate to the project.
10. Manages project staff according to the established policies and practices of the organization.
11. Reviews the quality of work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that work produced meets project standards.
12. Documents all project-related activities and ensures project files are maintained and secured accordingly.
13. Creates a communication schedule to update stakeholders, including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of projects.
14. Prepares presentations and presents status reports for leadership
15. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
Department Specific Job Functions: - As a member of the UHealth Operations team, this position will support various initiatives within Operations and Experience.
- Lead and collaborate end-to-end project management for complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning clinical operations, finance, IT, and administration
- Manage multiple concurrent projects of varying scope, scale, and complexity
- Lead the planning, execution, and governance of the system-wide strategic initiatives under Project Gateway, UHealth's multi-year project focused on improving patient access, patient experience, and overall operational efficiency
- Partner with senior and executive leadership to define project scope, goals, and success metrics
- Prepare polished executive and board level deliverables including reports, slide decks, dashboards, and briefing materials
- Support capital planning and FY budget processes by providing project-level financial inputs and analysis
- Collaborate with finance partners to ensure alignment with health system financial targets and reporting requirements
- Support the identification and tracking of cost savings opportunities across system-level projects, ensuring findings are documented and reported to leadership
- Identify operational inefficiencies and facilitate structured improvement efforts aligned with health system strategic priorities
- Apply performance improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent) to drive sustainable process change
Certification and Licensing:- Project Management certifications preferred (PMP, Lean Six Sigma, Project Management Certificate)
Experience:- Minimum 3-5 years of project management experience, preferably in a healthcare or academic medical center setting required
- Experience managing projects in clinical operations
- Experience with AI and automation implementation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. Smartsheet) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong proficiency in creating executive-level PowerPoint presentations, including board-ready decks, leadership briefings, and data-driven slide narratives
- Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
- Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
