Full Job Description
The Opportunity: (Vacancy: Replacement)

Reporting directly to the Manager, Transportation Engineering, this role is responsible for the delivery of transportation planning projects including master plans and transportation studies in support of the Town's Official Plan and secondary plans. You will lead and manage transportation planning initiatives, environmental assessments, feasibility studies, and preliminary designs for transportation infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for providing technical review and guidance on transportation-related studies, policies, and infrastructure designs to ensure alignment with Town standards, growth objectives, and legislative requirements. As the Project Manager, Transportation Planning, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Lead and project manage transportation master plans, municipal class environmental assessments, feasibility studies, and transportation planning initiatives
  • Coordinate and lead public consultation activities, including Public Information Centres (PICs), with stakeholders, agencies, consultants, and the public
  • Review transportation-related studies and development applications to ensure compliance with Town, Regional, and Provincial policies, standards, and design criteria
  • Prepare Council and Committee reports, presentations, and recommendations related to transportation planning and policy matters
  • Coordinate internal working groups and collaborate with departments, external agencies, consultants, and community stakeholders to support successful project delivery


The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a strategic and collaborative professional with a post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning/Engineering, Urban/Regional Planning, or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in transportation planning and road infrastructure projects, including experience leading complex projects, environmental assessments, and transportation studies. Candidates must possess a minimum Step 4 Assessment from Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or be a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) in Ontario. A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of transportation planning principles, municipal planning processes, Municipal Class Environmental Assessments, and transportation infrastructure standards. We are seeking an individual with superior project management and organizational skills, a demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and achieve consensus among diverse stakeholders, and excellent communication, analytical, and presentation skills.

The successful candidate for Project Manager, Transportation Planning will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).

This position offers a salary range of $106,444.72 to $133,055.90 plus a competitive benefit package.
