The Opportunity - Environmental Project Manager

Salary - $71,500 to $102,900

We are seeking a Project Manager to join our Site Assessment & Remediation team at our Hamilton office. This role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional who enjoys managing complex environmental projects, mentoring technical staff, and building strong client relationships. Working under the direction and mentorship of a Team Leader and with support from the Manager, Site Assessment & Remediation, you will lead environmental site assessment, remediation, contamination management, and excess soils management projects throughout Ontario, with a focus on the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas. This position is predominantly office-based, requiring a minimum of four days per week in the Hamilton office.

What You'll Do
  • Develop scopes of work and prepare technical and cost proposals.
  • Manage projects from inception to completion, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and delivery.
  • Design and oversee environmental site assessment, remediation, contamination management, and excess soils management programs.
  • Review and approve technical reports, ensuring quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews on technical deliverables prepared by project team members.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior and intermediate staff.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in business development, client management, and corporate initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety in all aspects of project delivery.

What We're Looking For
  • University degree in environmental science, earth science, geology, chemistry, environmental engineering, civil engineering, environmental technology, site assessment and remediation, or a related discipline.
  • Must currently qualify, or be immediately eligible to qualify, as a Qualified Person (QP) under Section 5(2) of Ontario Regulation 153/04. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) designation in Ontario is strongly preferred, or equivalent registration with the ability to obtain Ontario licensing within the probationary period.
  • Approximately 6 to 10 years of progressive consulting experience managing environmental site assessment, remediation, contamination management, and/or excess soils management projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario environmental regulations and industry standards, including O. Reg. 153/04, O. Reg. 406/19, O. Reg. 903, and applicable CSA, ASTM, and TSSA standards.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, resource management, and client communications.
  • Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting projects for integrated petroleum companies and/or large property portfolios is considered a strong asset.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
