Are you an amazing Project Manager with a focus on heavy civil projects? We're looking for a dynamic individual who can take responsibility for overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting and control, and provide technical direction while ensuring compliance with quality standards. The Project Manager will be responsible for a broad range of activities, including project planning, cost management, time management, quality management, contract administration, and safety management. You will prepare project status reports and work closely with Project Owners, Vendors, Subcontractors, Project Estimators, and Accounting, so strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Position Description

As our Project Manager, you'll be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance with field safety regulations by all field personnel
  • Overseeing all phases of the construction project timeline
  • Playing a key role in project planning, budgeting, and resource identification
  • Managing financial aspects of contracts, including fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, and maintaining good relationships with clients
  • Handling all correspondence between Contractors and Sub-Contractors
  • Performing site visits and monitoring progress of construction activities on a regular basis, holding regular status meetings with all sub-teams
  • Ensuring that construction activities move according to predetermined schedules
  • Drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget revisions when necessary
  • Negotiating with other departments for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company, if required
  • Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, required documentation, and presentations
  • Determining the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyzing results, and troubleshooting problem areas
  • Proactively managing changes in project scope, identifying potential crises, and devising contingency plans in collaboration with assigned Superintendents
  • Responding to RFIs and processing contract change orders
  • Approving all invoices and managing the billing process
  • Ensuring compliance with contract specifications
  • Representing the Company in project meetings, client meetings, etc.
  • Upholding all safety policies and standards proactively
  • Building, developing, and growing any business relationships vital to the success of the project
  • Maintaining strict adherence to Company policies and procedures.


Position Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in the heavy civil construction industry in roles such as surveyor, estimator, project coordinator, project manager, or similar positions
  • Knowledge of field concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal/human relations skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Outlook Exchange
  • Project Management Software (e.g., P6)
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, and lead through influence with the purpose of driving change and delivering positive outcomes
