Our client is seeking a Project Manager to support the Transmission Program Management team in planning and executing multiple high voltage transmission projects.
The Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of project delivery from project inception through to close out, including: cost and schedule monitoring, organizing resources and crews, contract management, health, safety and environment("HSE") reporting, quality management, coordinating regulatory deliverables and records management.
Essential duties and responsibilities - Manage a portfolio of projects of varying degrees of size and complexity from project inception through to project close out;
- Ensure the safe execution of all projects by supporting hazard identification and safe work planning at all phases of the project. Ensure conformance to all relevant Occupational, Health and Safety (OH&S") legislation and internal HSE policies and procedures;
- Manage project budgets according to the Capital Investment Policy, maintain up-to-date project forecasts and complete internal change approvals in a timely manner;
- Maintain up-to-date project schedules and complete internal change approvals in a timely manner;
- Liaise with internal staff including engineering, project controls, and construction crews to ensure the smooth flow of deliverables between groups in support of efficient project execution;
- Lead the development of requests for proposal and contract formation for the procurement of goods and services required;
- Maintain project records in our document records systems including:
- Oracle Projects;
- IVARA Work Management;
- SharePoint;
- ProjectWise;
- Participate in field activities such as project field kick-offs, project walk-downs, and HSE inspections during construction; and
- Other duties that may be assigned consistent with the job description.
Education, experience and / or credentials - Bachelor's degree in Engineering; or a relevant technical certificate or diploma with 10+ years of relevant experience;
- 5-7 years of project management experience, preferably in a construction environment is preferable;
- Experience with utility construction in energized substations and knowledgeable in the hazards and appropriate safe work practices;
- Understanding and experience with project permitting, environmental assessments and stakeholder engagement;
- Thorough understanding and experience of foundation Project Management processes and procedures aligned with the Project Management Body of Knowledge;
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is highly desirable; and
- Experience and knowledge around Alberta Electric System Operator project lifecycle is highly desirable; and
- Experience in major equipment and construction services procurement including; Request for Proposal development, tendering, evaluating, contract negotiations and contract administration.

- Ability to work with limited direction and to function as a key team member.
Training Certifications The following training certifications are mandatory to be completed within one month of Contract execution, or such other timeline approved by client in a Project Request or Purchase Order. All cost and time associated with mandatory training is at the Contractor's own expense.
- Construction Safety Training System;
- Electrical Safety Training System;
- Contractor Management;
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System ("WHMIS")
- Worker Education; and • Hazard Management.
- *All training courses listed in this section are from the Alberta Construction Standards Association. Equivalent 3rd party courses or internally delivered training will also be considered. The following training certifications, or equivalents, are not mandatory but are highly desirable: Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Legislation Awareness, Ground Disturbance 201; and Leadership for Safety Excellence.
