Position Summary

The Project Manager - Special Projects (Controls Focus) is responsible for managing the successful execution of building automation, controls, and small-to-medium MEP retrofit projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, field teams, and customers to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and with exceptional client satisfaction. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of HVAC controls, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and integrated building systems while demonstrating excellent project management, financial management, and relationship-building skills.

Position Details
  • Develops client relationships by providing project status updates to client and leadership.
  • Manages budget reports, cost and revenue projections, change orders, etc. for project.
  • Participates in project meetings with internal departments.
  • Partners with stakeholders to ensure scope and direction of project is on schedule.
  • Develops budget analysis reports, cost and revenue projections, change orders and other reports as necessary
  • Delegates work and serves as mentor to Project Engineers. Provides coaching and performance feedback as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in Engineering, or applicable experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience
  • Proven ability to manage small teams
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Experience managing subcontractors
  • Strong computer skills, including CADD, ERP and Microsoft Office Products, such as Excel
  • Ability to work at a computer terminal with mouse and keyboard for several hours per day.
  • Ability to visit job construction areas and climb stairs, maneuver in and around pipe work and air ducts and work safely in close proximity to construction materials and equipment.
