Now is a great time to join our Danfoss Power Solutions Team in Ames!

We are seeking an experienced Sourcing Project Manager to work Working closely with global category managers and project managers to initiate, design and execute projects while meeting quality and cost goals. The ideal candidate will have a global mindset and excellent communication skills to efficiently communicate across all levels in the organization. This role will communicate cross-functionally with suppliers, vendors, the supply chain, business unit, and operations. This is an onsite role that will report to the Director of Procurement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as a procurement representative in meetings, key projects, performance improvement and change management
  • Lead and manage projects to generate cost savings
  • Coordinate and participate in new product development projects assuring early involvement of our suppliers
  • Build relationships with internal key stake holders to establish best sourcing solutions at both the regional and global level.
  • Prepare and run ideation workshop with suppliers and internally to build a pipeline of cost savings
  • Participating in re-design projects and ensure implementation according to IATF 16949 requirements (Change Control, PPAP, etc.)
  • Identifying, visualizing, and mitigating potential risks
  • Working closely with global category managers and project managers to initiate, design and execute projects while meeting quality and cost goals.


What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, supply chain, or other relevant area.
  • Minimum of 5 years in procurement / sourcing experience
  • Experience demonstrating a solid track record of meeting aggressive objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high quality, deadline driven environment.
  • Broad knowledge of the procurement function as well as a high degree of knowledge of cost drivers, market dynamics, and supplier relationships in driving cost reductions.
  • Experience with Strategic Sourcing of Castings & Machining, aluminum and Turned parts categories
  • Experience in Negotiation, Supplier Evaluation, Commercial Contract Understanding, Risk Mitigation, Commodity Market
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Global mindset and excellent communication skills to efficiently communicate across all levels in the organization.
  • Good time management and project management skills to organize and plan effectively in developing effective systems and processes.
