DescriptionPrimary Function:
The Project Manager is responsible for leading complex engineering initiatives within Department of Defense (DoD) environments, ensuring compliance with government regulations, defense standards, and acquisition policies. This role requires technical expertise, program management acumen, and strong coordination skills to deliver mission-critical solutions. Projects may operate within Agile frameworks, requiring adaptability, iterative planning, and cross-functional collaboration to align with evolving defense priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Define project scope, establish milestones, and ensure timely project delivery within budget and compliance requirements.
- Lead project planning, execution, risk management, and issue resolution to achieve program objectives.
- Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to monitor project performance and forecast cost and schedule outcomes.
- Implement Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, or Hybrid Agile) as appropriate to support iterative development and stakeholder alignment.
- Ensure compliance with DoD acquisition regulations, including FAR, DFARS, MIL-STD requirements, and applicable cybersecurity standards.
- Partner with engineering teams to validate technical requirements, oversee system integration activities, and support quality assurance efforts.
- Maintain compliance with AS9100 quality management standards and project documentation requirements.
- Coordinate with government customers, military stakeholders, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
- Support procurement activities, including Statement of Work (SOW) validation, proposal evaluations, and vendor negotiations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contract modifications, scope changes, project reporting, and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with Agile teams to prioritize work, manage product backlogs, and drive continuous process improvement.
Work Conditions: Employee will be working mostly within an office environment. Employee may travel to work site locations where employee will be expected to dress in appropriate manner to interface with clients and customers. Some travel will be necessary to meet the requirements for the positions.
RequirementsRequired Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience managing engineering projects within DoD or federal contracting environments.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, systems engineering, and program execution.
- Strong understanding of systems integration, the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, and Primavera.
- Ability to analyze staffing plans, validate Level of Effort (LOE), and develop structured project workflows.
Preferred Qualifications- Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), SAFe Agilist, DAWIA certification, or equivalent project management experience.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other government contracting programs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across technical teams, customers, and leadership.
