Position Overview:

Mercury Marine is seeking a Project Manager to drive new product launches across our growing Parts & Accessories portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Engine P&A, this highly visible role will lead cross-functional teams through the product development process, ensuring programs are delivered on time, on budget, and on scope.

The Project Manager will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Marketing, Sales, and Supplier Quality to build and manage project schedules, lead core teams, coordinate phase-gate activities, mitigate risk, and drive accountability. The ideal candidate is a disciplined, self-motivated leader who thrives in ambiguity, takes ownership, and turns competing priorities into clear action plans.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead NPD programs end-to-end. Manage the program and core team to achieve program objectives, driving from concept through commercialization and launch.
  • Own the program schedule and plan. Develop, lead, and maintain the master project schedule; work with the core team to build program budgets, resource plans, and timelines.
  • Develop forecasts and steward resources. Build resource forecasts, request the resources programs need, and ensure they are used responsibly across the portfolio.
  • Demonstrate program leadership. Provide clear direction and accountability to core teams, managing team performance toward milestones without direct reporting authority.
  • Partner with functional managers. Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Marketing, Service, Supplier Quality, and Product Management leaders to secure commitments and align priorities.
  • Drive core team cadence. Schedule and lead core team meetings, capture notes, decisions, and next steps, and ensure clear ownership of every action item.
  • Manage the phase-gate process. Run programs through Mercury P&A's phase-gate (COMPASS) NPD process, preparing and requesting cross-functional updates for monthly reviews and gate meetings.
  • Monitor and report progress. Track and communicate performance against all key metrics (schedule, scope, cost, tooling, and risk) on a regular basis to the team and senior leadership.
  • Manage risk and issue resolution. When issues arise, assess risk, manage critical decision inputs and dates, generate and execute contingency plans, and communicate status and program implications.
  • Provide governance and executive visibility. Approach each program with an ownership mentality, including governance, KPIs, and presentations to senior leadership, while maintaining Mercury's consensus-based culture.
  • Manage a portfolio of programs. Balance multiple programs of varying size and scope simultaneously with guidance from the Product Management team, coordinating across teams and stakeholders.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of Parts & Accessories annual programs, customer events, trade shows, and strategic initiatives.

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of prior experience in project or program management.
  • Proven success leading and influencing cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing programs through a formal phase-gate or structured product development process.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent programs and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Strong data analysis and software skills, including Microsoft Excel and Power BI; proficient with Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytic and strategic thinking, with the ability to digest complex information, weigh trade-offs, and make timely, data-driven decisions.
  • Strong decision-making and prioritization skills, especially when trade-offs are involved and faster decisions are required.
  • Self-motivated with an ownership mentality and a can-do attitude, especially in new or ambiguous situations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project Management Institute (PMI/PMP) certification preferred.
  • Experience in Marine, Powersports, or a related manufacturing/durable-goods industry.
  • Familiarity with Parts & Accessories, aftermarket, or global parts and distribution businesses.
  • Working knowledge of APQP/PPAP and engineering prints and specifications.
  • Change-management experience, with the ability to anticipate needs, overcome resistance, and demonstrate managerial courage.

The hiring range for this position is $73,600 to $106,200 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
