Location: London ON Canada + potential travel to UK and USA
Hours: 40 hrs per week (Mon to Fri) based on-site

Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 CDN (subject to experience) + Bonuses + Benefits

The Job

We are seeking a highly capable Project Manager to lead complex defence projects involving engineering development, prototyping, and production delivery.

This role is suited to an experienced, self-directed professional who can take ownership of projects with minimal guidance and drive them from initiation through to completion. You will operate in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment where priorities shift and requirements may not always be fully defined at the outset.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams - including Engineering, Production, Quality, and Business Development from both our Canadian and UK offices - while also acting as a key point of contact for our Canadian Armed Forces and original equipment manufacturers.

You will be part of a small but growing Canadian team that takes pride in delivering high quality products and solutions that make a real difference to global defence forces.

What you'll be doing

  1. Lead full project lifecycle delivery (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control, and closeout).
  2. Take ownership of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget.
  3. Develop and maintain core project documentation (schedules, budgets, risk registers, reporting).
  4. Engage directly with customers, providing briefings, updates, and managing expectations throughout delivery.
  5. Work with engineering teams to define requirements, develop work breakdown structures, and track technical progress.
  6. Identify risks and issues early and implement mitigation strategies without reliance on escalation.
  7. Coordinate cross-functional resources and maintain alignment across teams.
  8. Track and report project performance, including KPIs, financials, and milestones.
  9. You will be expected to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize effectively, and maintain momentum across competing deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Work with Engineers and designers in the definition and capture of engineering requirements, defined through work breakdown structures and compliance charts.
  11. Preparing draft evaluation plans, criteria and evaluation schedules.
  12. Developing, planning, analyzing, evaluating and prioritizing deliverables and requirements.
  13. Provision of robust management information reporting on progress both internally and externally.
  14. Development and maintenance of Project Management Plans and associated governance documentation to ensure the continued viability of the project.
  15. Maintain a clear, comprehensive understanding of the risks and opportunities for all allocated projects and a clear understanding of necessary actions to follow up as appropriate.
  16. Ownership of the financial budget, tracking cost performance through earned value management, and forecasting future risks and opportunities.
  17. Assuming leadership at the appropriate phases of planning, action and evaluation.

  • This is not a highly directed role. The successful candidate must be comfortable taking initiative, making decisions, and driving progress independently.


Experience required

Essential

  • Post-secondary education (university degree or college diploma).
  • Minimum 5 years of applied experience as a Project Manager.
  • A high level of technical proficiency underpinned by formal technical/engineering qualifications.
  • This role requires a highly autonomous project manager who can take ownership of complex, loosely defined problems and drive them to completion with minimal direction.
  • Comfortable working in environments where requirements may be evolving and not fully defined at initiation.
  • Confident representing the company to customers, including leading discussions, managing expectations, and handling challenging or high-pressure interactions.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft packages. MS Planner/Project an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in the effective use of Project Management tools and techniques
  • Ability to quickly identify the critical path and mitigate risks as they are identified.
  • Ability to create effective working relationships within a challenging environment, and leading multi-functional teams.
  • Strong negotiation skills with customers, management, peers, and subordinates.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Eligible for Secret Clearance.
    • Experience of using AI tools or demonstrates a willingness to learn and apply AI in role.


Desirable

  • Experience working in the defence industry.
  • Experience working on military vehicle platforms.
