SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional technical programs from planning through execution. This role is responsible for managing project roadmaps, milestones, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communication across multiple workstreams. The ideal candidate brings strong technical fluency, disciplined project management practices, and the ability to align engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
Primary Responsibilities
- Program and Project Governance: Define, document, and manage project roadmaps, milestones, deliverables, and cross-project dependencies for technical initiatives.
- Technical Integration and Alignment: Partner with architects, engineering leaders, developers, and operations teams to translate product and technical requirements into clear execution plans.
- Risk and Dependency Management: Identify technical constraints, project risks, and potential blockers, and work with stakeholders to develop practical mitigation plans.
- Resource Planning: Coordinate resource needs and priorities across teams to support project delivery, maintain schedule discipline, and manage budget expectations.
- Project Management Practices: Apply appropriate project management methods, including Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or traditional project planning, based on project needs.
- Stakeholder Communication: Prepare clear project updates, metrics, risks, and decisions for business leaders, project sponsors, and cross-functional teams.
- Vendor and Third-Party Management: Support vendor coordination, review statements of work, and track external deliverables to ensure commitments are met.

Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, project management, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 10+ years of project management experience in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, software, infrastructure, or high-technology environment.
- Project Portfolio Management: Demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities, shared resources, and interdependent deliverables.
- Project Management Tools: Proficiency with MS Project or similar project planning tools, with the ability to develop schedules, track milestones, and manage dependencies.
- Technical Tools: Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Asana, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms used to manage work, report progress, and present data.
- Certifications: PMP, CSM, or similar project management certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- PgMP, PMI-ACP, or similar advanced project management certification.
- Prior hands-on experience in engineering, quality, manufacturing, software, systems, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience working with globally distributed or cross-cultural teams.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 20% travel may be required to support project activities, business meetings, supplier engagement, or work with cross-functional teams at other Novanta locations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an office or manufacturing environment, including extended periods of sitting, standing, and using a computer.
The salary for this role will range from $135,000 to $165,000 annually based on full-time employment. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to location, relevant skills, training, experience, education, etc.
