You will join a multi-discipline team supporting non-regulated project execution activities related primarily to Churchill Falls, Muskrat Falls and the Soldiers Pond Synchronous Condenser facility.
Key Responsibilities: - Managing day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scopes of work;
- Create and execute project work plans, revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements;
- Prepare tender packages & requests for proposals (RFP's);
- Initiate and monitor all aspects of projects to ensure compliance with schedules and budgets;
- Ensure project change requests are properly evaluated, authorized, communicated and reflected in the active project budget and schedule;
- Identify and respond to issues, implement timely interventions or escalate as required to ensure project outcomes comply with project plans;
- Ensure that terms of agreements are understood and fully respected;
- Communicate with Operations on a regular basis;
- Regular travel to the Churchill Falls, Muskrat Falls and Soldiers Pond facilities to monitor construction activities, verify project progress and provide support to site teams;
- Promote continual improvement through lessons learned, innovative approaches and sharing best practices with other project teams;
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For: - Experience in managing electrical, mechanical or civil projects;
- Proven capability to direct and supervise consultants and contractors during the completion of specific engagements;
- Experience in preparation of project cost estimates, schedules and resource requirements;
- Proven and demonstrated communication skills.
What You'll Need: - Engineering Degree from a recognized university (Washington Accord signatory);
- Professional Engineer registered with PEGNL (Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador);
- Eight (8) years or more experience in construction projects;
- Field experience, particularly relating to hydro-electric facilities or the electrical industry in general is considered desirable;
- Project management certification is considered desirable;
- Ability to work in a dynamic work environment;
- Ability to thrive as a participant and/or leader within a multi-discipline team of both internal and external resources;
- Excellent computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
- A valid driver's license is required;
- Ability and willingness to travel to remote operations and construction sites.
