Job Description:

What’s the role

Lead the development and execution of small to medium-sized capital projects across Shell's Midstream and Distribution assets in the Northeast and Midwest regions. Responsible for managing brownfield projects from concept development and engineering design through construction, commissioning, and start-up while ensuring safe delivery, cost efficiency, schedule adherence, and operational excellence.

Partner closely with Business Development, Engineering, Operations, HSSE, Contracts & Procurement, and external stakeholders to deliver terminal infrastructure projects, including tank farms, pipelines, truck and rail loading facilities, marine assets, and related operational equipment. This role requires strong project leadership, stakeholder engagement, contractor management, and construction oversight in complex operating environments.

The position is based at the Sewaren Terminal in New Jersey and requires regular site presence and periodic travel to support project execution across multiple assets.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead HSSE performance and champion Goal Zero through visible safety leadership, risk identification, and proactive intervention

  • Manage a portfolio of 8-12 concurrent capital projects valued at approximately $10M-$15M, across all project lifecycle phases

  • Deliver complex brownfield projects in active operating environments while balancing multiple stakeholders, interfaces, and priorities

  • Drive project planning and execution, including scope development, engineering oversight, design reviews, scheduling, budgeting, and forecasting

  • Ensure successful delivery of project cost, schedule, quality, and performance objectives through effective risk and scope management

  • Develop procurement and contracting strategies, oversee contractor performance, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and project delivery standards

  • Provide leadership during construction, commissioning, startup, and project closeout to ensure safe and efficient execution

  • Build strong partnerships with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and leadership teams to improve asset reliability, operational efficiency, and business performance

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or in any related field

  • At least 10 years of engineering experience, including a minimum of 7 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager

  • Experience in managing field construction and project execution for brownfield engineering facilities is preferred

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) and/or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certification is a plus

  • Capital Project experience using a gated work process for project advancement and authorization

  • Experience managing projects in Rail, Truck, Tank Farm and Marine Terminals a plus

  • Must be based in New Jersey and willing to travel to other regional terminals. Travel requirements may reach up to 50% during certain periods of the year, depending on the project phase and portfolio demands. Relocation support will be provided

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $124,000 - $186,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.  For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.  Additional information on Shell’s US benefit programs can be found at .
