Responsibilities

Full Job Description
The Role

PVEDI recently partnered with Stratus and is looking to add a Project Manager focusing on Plumbing engineering. The Project manager is responsible for managing engineering design teams that perform investigation, analysis, examination of an existing building as it relates to plumbing and fire-protection systems. Deliver practical and successful designs that respond to site constraints, sustainability targets, budget considerations, and constructability requirements.. Review of ongoing project work (calculations, design, construction administration, inspections, etc.) of staff for completion of project activities, both in field and office.

Responsibilities
  • Manage technical and administrative aspects of plumbing and fire-protection design service opportunities from proposal preparation to final acceptance by Client, including invoice and accounts/receivable.
  • Review assessment information gathered during site investigations (performed by self or by direct reports). Reviews and comments on technical reports ensuring structure and language utilized is easily understood by Client and grammatically correct, and applicable to the building.
  • Lead plumbing/fire-protection engineering design across a variety of projects, including multifamily, commercial, industrial, retail... with applications of water/waste/gas distribution, wet/dry/pre-action sprinkler systems, new services for existing buildings, and ground-up construction. Continual coordination with multidisciplinary teams-including electrical, mechanical, structural, fire/life safety, and project management.
  • Supervising a team of staff designers and engineers to produce trade-specific schematic, filing, and construction designs/layouts based on solid-design principles and strict adherence with NYC DOB, DEP, HPD, and HMC codes/regulations. Preparation of drawings, specifications, bidding documents, and related submissions in alignment with applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Periodically inspect work from contractors and staff to ensure construction activities adhere to the contract documents (field/office) and prepare summary documentation for presentation.
  • Play a lead role in effectively communicating with external clients, contractors, vendors, consultants, and city/state construction/energy agencies.
  • Maintain project schedules, change orders and budgets; identifies resources to be used for each project ensuring that all projects are sufficiently staffed and kept on schedule in accordance with client agreements for successful project delivery. Manages individual project budgets and assists accounting department with invoicing.
  • Mentors junior staff members with technical guidance, project processes, feedback, and recognition of work.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field required.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience designing plumbing and fire-protection systems across a range of project types (e.g., commercial, residential, etc.), for both existing and new buildings.
  • Experience working within New York City required and Tri-State Area regulatory environments preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD for mentoring junior engineer drafting tasks; experience with industry-recognized calculations for mentoring junior staff
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
  • Confident presenter with sound commercial awareness.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Preferred
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
