Overview

MBP is seeking new Team Members for growth opportunities and to work on meaningful projects that support our community.  For this position, we seek candidates in the Metropolitan Washington, DC area with education and/or experience in project/construction management. Candidates will assist in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering complexities, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse engineering activities.  Experience with BIM Implementation, management of record documentation, and project closeout is preferred.

Responsibilities

Managing a project’s overall effort for the client, including assisting in managing a team and coordinating the work of various project entities (designer, contractor, owner personnel).  Assists in preparation, monitoring, and managing client project budgets and internal budgets.  Analyzes and optimizes internal and external processes.

  • Maintains positive and productive working relationships with peer leaders, superiors, and subordinates.
  • Supports projects during all phases of execution including preconstruction, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
  • Document and track issues until resolution, including working collaboratively with the owner, designer, designer, and contractor to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Coordinate punchlist and acceptance with the designer and other project stakeholders.
  • Monitor and verify completion of closeout requirements, including owner training, operations and maintenance manuals, warranties, and stock materials.
  • Capable of using Revit(BIM), AutoCAD, Archibus, Maximo and related systems to implement policies and procedures for improved data management.
  • Assists with mentoring and facilitating the imparting of technical knowledge to staff, including the transfer of technical knowledge from the more senior personnel to those with less experience.
  • Helps to manage, direct, and coordinate the work of assigned staff.
  • Monitors progress, utilization and quality of work produced by assigned staff.
  • Conducts site visits, identifies potential engineering problems, and proposes solutions and alternatives.
  • Provides subject matter technical engineering expertise and supports and assists in reviewing technical work of others.
  • Adjusts workload to changes and work to meet deadlines.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Engages in business development, participates in marketing activities, actively participates in company initiatives, and assists in providing project management on small to mid-size projects. Helps to prepare, monitor, and manage the client’s project budgets. Works closely with project accountant to manage individual multipliers, utilization forecasts and project margins. Attends and participates in professional association meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of civil engineering. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

A master’s degree industry-related field preferred. Professional registration and other job-relevant certifications such as CCM, CCE, or advanced specialized technical knowledge are strongly preferred. Detailed knowledge of construction, principles of construction management and project controls, with specialized knowledge in several areas including scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, construction techniques.  Some knowledge of personnel and project management techniques including budgeting, leadership, training, and business development is required.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Expertise with MBP's diverse services.  Direct client contact and client care.  Operates at expert level in one or more service areas with responsibility for final work product.

  • Capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Capable of managing a small project team.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to utilize Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, Archibus, and related software systems.
  • Ability to analyze and optimize internal and external processes.
  • Able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.

 

GUIDANCE/RESPONSIBILITY: 

  • Generally able to work independently and determine solutions.
  • Provide training to less experienced personnel.
  • Assist in managing the profitability of projects and their forecasted budgets.
  • Receives overall guidance on emphasis and approach.

SUPERVISORY:

Capable of supervising individuals and teams.

 

STATUS:

Full-time

 

The base salary range for this position is $115,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
