Project Manager, Major Projects

Position Summary

The Transmission business is a pivotal part of the SIS growth and diversification strategy. Our ability to execute major projects directly impacts our ability to secure additional work. As such, the Project Manager, Major Projects role is responsible for ensuring projects are executed at the highest level. This role is responsible for project management and personnel supervision on SIS Major Projects, including, but not limited to, Crawler and RTR services, to ensure key financial, operational, safety, and customer requirements are met or exceeded.

Manage Major Projects, Crawler, and RTR projects and supervise personnel while maintaining operational excellence. Improve and grow customer relationships.

Provide leadership by setting clear expectations and accountability, creating a climate for success, building capability and capacity within the team, and developing team members.

Serve as a role model in leadership, integrity, and code of conduct. Build strong relationships with the SIS functional team, co-workers, and senior customer leaders.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist the business leader in developing and articulating a strategic roadmap for the business, including target markets, revenue goals, and execution plans for people, processes, and equipment by growth themes. The plan must be sensitive to current divisional dynamics.
  • Comply with SIS policies on radiation, safety, risk management, quality assurance, health, safety, and environment, including statutory obligations.
  • Increase revenue by participating in and, where appropriate, leading business development activities, including bid preparation, business proposals, and customer presentations. Remain fully engaged in Business Development activities for opportunities and new growth targets. Leverage the existing customer base to secure additional work.
  • Manage and oversee the safe and successful execution of work, including forecasting, planning timelines, staffing, equipment needs, equipment inventory, and customer interface.
  • Prepare and periodically evaluate execution efficiency to ensure financial results align with forecasts and plans, including efficiency metrics, margin, pricing, and revenue.
  • Liaise with clients and staff in all aspects of work scope initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing.
  • Liaise between the corporate office and branch staff regarding communication and required documents.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations related to radiation activities.
  • Manage the daily and general organization of Superior Integrity Services personnel within the Major Projects Department according to the work schedule.
  • Ensure personnel assigned to each project are adequately qualified, certified, and competent to perform their tasks at all times.
  • Submit required paperwork in a timely manner, including work tickets and requested reports.
  • Lead the crews in all aspects of the job, including compliance with the Company's safety and safe driving policies.
  • Obtain and maintain all required certifications and licenses.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to Field Technicians & Assistants.
  • Set up, calibrate, and utilize nondestructive testing equipment.
  • Conduct and interpret radiographic tests once NDT certifications are obtained.
  • Cooperate with the employer to protect the health and safety of themselves and other workers engaged in or present at the work site where work is being performed.
  • Complete required paperwork and expense reports.

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certified or certifiable Level II in any NDT/NDE method, such as RT, CR/DR, MT, PT, UT, or VT; Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Program (IRRSP), agreement state card, or card for radiography compliance
  • Knowledge of field NDT/NDE equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Knowledge of application and compliance requirements for regulatory codes, such as OSHA and EPA, and industry standards and recommended practices, such as API, NFPA, and ASME, is preferred


Working Conditions

  • Moving, carrying, and lifting objects in excess of 75 pounds
  • Climbing and working from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding in excess of 100 feet continuously throughout the shift
  • Ability to climb ladders and platforms up to 250 feet with a harness and lanyard
  • Ability to step up into vehicles or onto equipment
  • Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time
  • Working in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold
  • Working in and near industrial hazards
  • Long hours of computer usage can create visual and mental stress
  • A daily fast pace, deadlines, and high volume of work can create stress
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings
  • Must be able to travel out of town as requested
