We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Manager- Linework Trainer I to join our team at K&A Power Group in Binghamton, New York. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations:
  • Deliver classroom and field-based instruction in electrical lineworker fundamentals, including overhead and underground distribution, tool use, climbing, rigging, equipment operation, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct hands-on training at the NYSEG pole yard and training facilities.
  • Teach and reinforce NYSEG construction standards, safety rules, and operational procedures.
  • Provide instruction aligned with IBEW apprenticeship and NYS Department of Labor training outlines.
  • Serve as an OSHA-authorized instructor for required safety curriculum, including OSHA-10/OSHA-30 (Construction).
  • Ensure all training activities are conducted in compliance with OSHA regulations, NYSEG safety policies, and industry best practices.
  • Lead and assess pole-top rescue, bucket rescue, and emergency response exercises.
  • Monitor participant performance and immediately address unsafe behaviors.
  • Mentor students and apprentices, providing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Evaluate trainee progress against defined competencies and document training outcomes.
  • Support NYSEG's workforce pipeline objectives by preparing participants for internships, apprenticeships, and entry-level lineworker roles.
  • Collaborate with SUNY Broome faculty, IBEW representatives, and NYSEG training leadership.
  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, certifications, and assessments.
  • Participate in curriculum review, continuous improvement efforts, and program evaluations.
  • Assist with orientation, skills assessments, and program information sessions as needed.

What we're looking for:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing transmission and/or distribution linework in a utility environment.
  • Journey-Level Lineworker status with completion of a recognized lineworker apprenticeship program.
  • IBEW membership in good standing (or ability to obtain).
  • OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer status, including completion of OSHA 500/510 (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).
  • Current certifications in:
    • CPR / First Aid
    • Pole-top rescue
    • Aerial lift / bucket rescue
    • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • NESC (National Electrical Safety Code)
    • Electrical hazard mitigation
    • Utility safety regulations and standards
  • Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of lineworker training, including climbing, lifting, and working at heights.
  • 8+ years of utility lineworker experience.
  • Prior experience as a:
    • Crew leader
    • General foreman
    • Training instructor or safety trainer
  • Experience working with registered apprenticeship programs.
  • Familiarity with NYSEG and/or Avangrid construction and safety standards.
  • Experience delivering instruction to entry-level or pre-apprentice populations.
  • Combination of classroom instruction and outdoor, hands-on field training.
  • Frequent exposure to heights, climbing activities, and energized equipment (training controlled environments).
  • All training conducted in accordance with NYSEG safety requirements.

Pay Range: $55.00- $60.00/ hourly
