SUMMARY: The Project Manager position is a Full-Time position servicing the San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties. This position is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of Plumbing and HVAC mechanical construction projects from initial planning through closeout. Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and general contractors, this role leads cross-functional teams, oversees project budgeting and accounting, manages risks, and ensures strict adherence to schedule, quality, and safety standards. The Project Manager drives operational execution by aligning field leadership, subcontractors, and internal engineering resources to deliver profitable, high-quality projects on time.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Oversees construction projects from initial planning through final closeout to ensure work progresses according to the predetermined schedule.
- Devises comprehensive project work plans and proactively makes revisions as project needs arise.
- Conducts periodic site inspections to monitor construction activity, ensure quality standards, and confirm that all required project documentation is complete and up to date.
- Performs a lead role in project budgeting, resource planning, and financial management.
- Manages project accounting functions, including tracking job costs, monitoring expenses, and minimizing financial exposure and risk.
- Maintains strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, prepares accurate cost forecasts, and manages contract change orders to protect project profitability.
- Establishes project team structures, defines key objectives, and assigns individual responsibilities across team members.
- Coordinates and directs the efforts of all internal personnel, including Project Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen, and BIM staff.
- Builds a collaborative environment that holds team members accountable to safety, quality, and project goals.
- Serves as the primary liaison for clients, architects, consultants, general contractors, and trade partners.
- Communicates effectively across all phases of construction, holds regular project status meetings, and reviews all deliverables before submission to external stakeholders.
- Identifies potential design or construction issues early to resolve disputes and prevent claims.
- Perform general administrative and project support tasks as directed by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Project Manager is responsible for the direct supervision, mentorship, and professional development of assigned Project Engineer(s) and interns.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of higher education and extensive hands-on mechanical trade management experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of direct experience managing mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Thorough understanding of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) building systems, contract plans, and specifications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local construction legal issues, contract administration, risk management, and OSHA safety standards.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to lead project teams, negotiate with subcontractors, and maintain strong client relationships.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Microsoft Project (or equivalent scheduling software).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Prior experience managing commercial Plumbing and HVAC projects for a specialty mechanical contractor.
- Demonstrated track record of managing multi-million dollar project budgets and cost forecasts.
- Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam Revu, or BIM coordination tools.
