PROJECT MANAGER, IT

The Opportunity

As we continue to evolve how we use technology to support our people, customers and operations, we are looking for a Project Manager, IT, to lead technology initiatives that support business transformation, enhance operational effectiveness, and improve the experience of our customers and employees.

In this role you'll oversee the full lifecycle of complex IT projects, partnering with business leaders, technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver solutions that create meaningful business value. From planning and procurement through implementation and post-project review, you'll ensure projects are delivered successfully while balancing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and stakeholder expectations.This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative and solutions-focused project management professional who enjoys navigating complexity, building strong partnerships, and turning strategic objectives into successful outcomes.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Director, Portfolio Planning and Execution you contribute value through key areas of oversight such as:

  • Leading the successful delivery of IT projects, ensuring they are completed within scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations;
  • Partnering with business leaders, executives, and stakeholders to define project objectives, deliverables, and success measures;
  • Building strong relationships and provide clear, ongoing communication on project progress, risks, decisions, and outcomes;
  • Facilitating workshops, steering committees, and stakeholder meetings to drive alignment and decision-making;
  • Managing project budgets, risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Applying organizational change management practices to support user adoption and business readiness;
  • Managing project risks, changes, dependencies, and competing priorities to keep initiatives on track;
  • Applying project governance and change management practices to support successful adoption and business outcomes;
  • Partnering with Supply Chain and vendors on procurement activities including RFIs, RFPs, evaluations, contract negotiations, and vendor management;
  • Analyzing business needs and identifying opportunities to leverage technology solutions that support business objectives and long-term strategic plans;
  • Applying BC Ferries project methodologies, PMO standards, and PMI best practices to ensure consistent and effective project delivery;
  • Conducting post-implementation reviews and contribute to continuous improvement and project management best practices.

 

What you bring to the team

  • An associate or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Project Management certification is considered an asset; SAFe and/or Scrum Master certification is preferred
  • At least 5 years of project management experience, including leading complex projects through the full project lifecycle; experience managing capital projects and budgets of $1 million or more is an asset
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability to lead, influence, and motivate cross-functional project teams while fostering positive and collaborative working relationships
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and timelines
  • Experience managing stakeholder expectations, building trust through transparency, and delivering a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to take ownership, follow through on commitments, and consistently deliver results
  • Sound business and financial acumen, with experience assessing business needs, managing project budgets, evaluating technology solutions, and supporting procurement activities including vendor evaluations, RFPs, RFIs, and contract negotiations
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices

Additional information

The target salary range: $105,200 - $131,500 per annum.  The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
