PSE's Customer & System Projects team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Project Manager II position!

Job Description

Puget Sound Energy is seeking a customer-focused Project Manager II to serve as the primary point of contact for customers navigating gas and electric service projects. In this role, you'll blend technical expertise with strong relationship management skills to guide projects from initial planning through successful completion-ensuring PSE's operational objectives are met while delivering an exceptional customer experience. T Project development may be guided with the assistance of the senior department staff. The Project Manager II manages and executes projects with a clearly defined scope of work, which may involve multiple internal customers or departments, as well as external customers. Additionally, they will coordinate and communicate tasks with other departments such as Engineering, Real Estate, Environmental, Permitting, System Planning, and Energy Resources.

This job is considered "safety sensitive" as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Job Responsibilities

Customer Service and Relationship Management

  • Communicate and manage the customer relationship as the primary point of contact.
  • Accurately identify customer needs, set reasonable expectations, identify potential issues and share alternatives.
  • Facilitate execution of service agreements and ensure customer understands associated costs, requirements and payment processes.
  • Perform effective upfront project planning and advocacy of PSE's operational objectives to minimize costs and change orders, identify risks, and maximize efficiency through negotiation and conflict resolution.


Field Assessment and Design

  • Perform assessment of project site and requirements for service (gas and/or electric), which may include basic design work.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements.
  • Identify the steps and processes required by the projects to include equipment, material, permitting and facility siting as necessary.
  • Ensure job progress and milestones are tracked in SAP systems and any appropriate notes are entered.
  • Independently develop a cost based estimate for the project proposal.


Project Coordination and Management

  • Projects may involve new construction, upgrades, uprates and modifications of the electric and gas distribution systems involving some degree of complexity.
  • Collaborate with Service Provider to coordinate construction schedules and obtain appropriate resources.
  • Communicate with Service Provider and customer regarding risks and delays to the schedule.
  • Interact with customers, multiple agencies, and private sector businesses regarding project impacts.
  • Ensure job progress and milestones are tracked in SAP systems and any appropriate notes are entered.


Other

  • Supports emergency response work as requested including immediate and extended restoration efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • At least four years relevant work experience including managing simple projects.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in scheduling, estimating, accounting and finance principles.
  • Basic knowledge in project management discipline to effectively arrange resources and manage multiple simple to medium complexity projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented and collaborative attitude, flexibility, an understanding of the business issues driving the need for the project, and solid work ethic are expected.


Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Project Management or related discipline.
  • Experience managing small projects or programs.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and techniques to bring about agreement between divergent points of view. Ability to write clear, concise and direct narrative and reports.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills for single of multiple technical areas.
  • Negotiating and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of utility methods, techniques and procedures involved in budgeting, procurement and contract administration.
  • Advanced Project Management Training and Project Management or Construction Management Certification from an accredited institution (PMI or College).


Additional Information

The pay range for this position is $82,000.00 - $136,300.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
