Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Project Manager II to support K-12 educational facility programs and capital improvement projects in San Francisco. This position will play a key role in the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of school construction and modernization programs for public sector clients. The ideal candidate will bring experience managing multiple concurrent projects, collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups, and overseeing project delivery from planning through construction closeout.

This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that directly impact students, educators, and local communities. Candidates with engineering and/or architecture backgrounds are highly desired; however, professionals with strong program or project management experience supporting K-12 design and construction programs will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of K-12 construction and modernization programs, ensuring projects meet scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives.
  • Manage multiple capital improvement projects simultaneously, including new school construction, renovations, campus expansions, and facility upgrades.
  • Coordinate with school district representatives, architects, engineers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Monitor program performance, identify project risks, and develop mitigation strategies to support successful project outcomes.
  • Review project schedules, cost estimates, change orders, and contract documentation.
  • Facilitate meetings with clients and project teams and prepare executive-level reports and presentations.
  • Support procurement activities, consultant selection processes, and construction contract administration.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, educational facility standards, safety requirements, and district policies.
  • Track program budgets and forecast project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams while fostering strong client relationships.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a related field and 2+ years of relevant or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience managing K-12 construction, educational facility, or public sector capital improvement programs.
  • Experience supporting California school districts, public agencies, or educational institutions.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP), Registered Architect (RA), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar professional certification.
  • Strong understanding of design management, construction delivery methods, project controls, budgeting, and schedule management.
  • Demonstrated success supporting large-scale educational facility programs from planning through construction and occupancy.
