Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Project Manager II in Pasadena, CA.

Duties and Skills:
  • Manages one or more moderately complex project, involving a combination of the following:
  • Clients with a regional geographic footprint; OR,
  • Projects involving multiple services provided by regional IE offices; OR,
  • Other complexities, such as projects that involve litigation, environmental protection, due diligence, etc.
  • May manage all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).
  • Works mostly independently but receives basic instruction on specific assignments, objectives, complex features and possible solutions.
  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
  • May supervise: senior level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating and procurement representatives
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Individuals must be able to manage multiple tasks, exhibit strong organizational skills, have a good understanding of design and construction
  • Knowledge of construction management procedures
  • Knowledge of construction industry practices
  • Skilled at use of construction management software and programs
  • Knowledgeable in the process of invoicing and billing procedures
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Act as Owners Authorized Representative (OAR)
  • Design management experience managing all phases of design:
  • Provide leadership to architects, engineer and design team consultants
  • Design phase cost, budget, and schedule control and coordination, and reporting to the Client
  • Pre-design experience to assist in developing overall project schedule and project budget inclusive of construction cost and soft cost
  • User group and stakeholder coordination and management
  • Coordination of all jurisdictional approvals and permitting
  • Construction logistics planning, bidding, construction contract review/ coordination, pre-qualification processes
  • Coordinates program activities with other Client organizational branches and departments such as the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, Design and A/E Technical Support, Asset Management Branch, Facilities Contract Administration, Inspection Unit, Maintenance and Operations and other stakeholders
  • Assists Facilities management staff with bid and contract planning
  • Assesses bid specifications according to Client needs and probability of completion under stated timeline
  • Reviews and monitors overall administration of contracts for Architects and other project related consultants
  • Reviews status and overall construction project progress relative to submitted construction schedules
  • Reviews change orders from all construction projects and assesses their impact
  • Reviews status and monitors variances of the construction project database relative to scheduling and cost control reporting
  • Reviews and verifies submitted applications for payment and performs overall fiscal management of multiple construction projects
  • Provides functional direction over areas of responsibility including construction project schedules, cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality control
  • Resolves complex construction project related issues, disputes, and disagreements
  • Reviews and takes recommended actions in resolving disputes relative to construction projects


Qualifications

Minimum Experience:
  • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Experience:
  • Five years of full time paid-professional experience managing the facilities design, or the planning and coordination of capital projects that includes the overall design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling activities
  • Experience working with the Division of the State Architect (DSA)
  • Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experience with construction management
  • Progressive design build
  • Manage projects $10M and above,
  • Experience coordinating local worker PLAs, prevailing wage / DIR experience, public works projects
  • Housing or Workforce Housing project experience
  • Live near Pasadena
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field
  • Additional courses in business administration, public relations, accounting, finance, personnel management, educational facilities planning, and/or communication are preferred

Preferred Licenses and Certificates:
  • A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
  • A valid Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI)
  • LEED Professional Accreditation
  • DBIA certification
