Job Summary

This position, within the Advanced Systems & Technology group, typically reports to a senior program manager and is responsible for the planning, managing and technical performance of one or more research and/or development engineering program(s). Lead the development of program requirements, plans, delivery methodologies and manage the execution of projects. Lead all phases of assigned program(s) from initiation through delivery. Apply established technologies using standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems. Typically accomplishes objectives through subordinate managers. Responsible for decisions that could impact outcomes where erroneous decisions could cause serious schedule delays and expenditure of additional time and resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • With limited direction, provide leadership, direction, and guidance to a multi-discipline engineering team by determining technical objectives and/or solutions to resolve highly technical and complex engineering problems in a developmental program space.
  • Manage and execute complex cross-functional projects involving software and hardware components to cost, schedule, and performance expectations.
  • Lead system level Qualification, Verification and Validation Testing of hardware and software with emphasis placed on deriving & tracking test requirements, generation of system level Test Plans and Procedures, conducting Lab/Ground/Flight testing.
  • Quickly grasp and understand the full scope of development and integration activities and come up to speed quickly in new areas. Take on high-level problems and recommend a technical path forward
  • Demonstrate proficiency in problem solving, root cause analysis and drawing change procedures.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and draw support and guidance from senior engineering staff and program management offices.
  • Interact with management and customer representatives regarding programs, operational decisions, scheduling requirements and contractual clarification.
  • Lead the development of new business opportunities and expansion of existing business opportunities. Participate with Group management in pursuing business partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures that enhance the capabilities of the Group/Company and may result in new products, programs and business opportunities.
  • Direct the development of and ensure the security of proprietary technology and maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Business Administration, Engineering, Science or related discipline and at least six years of progressively complex experience in project administration. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates extensive technical expertise and application of program management principles, concepts, and practice as well as comprehensive program management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Must be able to develop solutions to complex problems that require coordination of technologies across program requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
  • With at least 2 years of experience in technical leadership with an emphasis on project execution and innovation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance required.
