Full Job Description
HGA is seeking an experienced, results-driven Project Manager to lead and oversee construction projects in Baton Rouge, LA from pre-construction planning through final closeout and handover. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities. This role serves as the primary point of accountability for project success, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing risk in a construction environment that emphasizes sustainability, digital project management tools, and strict safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of assigned projects, including planning, design coordination, procurement, construction execution, commissioning, and closeout

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies using project management software

  • Manage project financials, including cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, change orders, and value engineering

  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and in-house teams; select subcontractors and negotiate contracts

  • Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, OSHA standards, environmental requirements, and applicable permits

  • Conduct site visits, progress meetings, and quality inspections to monitor construction progress, workmanship, safety, and specification adherence

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; proactively resolve issues, delays, disputes, and emergencies

  • Communicate regularly with clients, architects, engineers, and stakeholders, providing status reports and updates

  • Oversee project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, daily logs, punch lists, as-built drawings, warranties, and O&M manuals

  • Champion safety culture on-site, including leading safety meetings and enforcing protocols

  • Leverage construction management software and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and decision-making

  • Support business development efforts when needed, including bid preparation and scope development for future projects
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5-10+ years of progressive experience managing construction projects, with demonstrated success delivering projects $5M-$50M+ in value

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and safety regulations

  • Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)

  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites
Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 certification

  • PMP, CCM (Certified Construction Manager), LEED AP, or OSHA 500 certification

  • Previous experience in industrial, heavy civil, mechanical, or USACE projects
