Central Specialties, Inc. is seeking a driven Project Manager to oversee heavy highway and civil construction projects from bid award through final completion. This role requires a strong balance of field presence, technical expertise, and leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage all aspects of assigned construction projects, including budget, schedule, subcontractors, and materials.
- Oversee project setup, progress tracking, and closeout documentation.
- Collaborate with Field Supervisors, and Executive Leadership to align project goals and performance metrics.
- Review subcontractor agreements, change orders, and project invoices.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor work progress, safety compliance, and quality standards.
- Maintain effective communication with owners, inspectors, and internal teams.
- Lead project meetings and prepare reports summarizing progress, issues, and cost performance.
- Support continuous improvement and adherence to company safety, environmental, and quality programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of project management experience in heavy civil, highway, or infrastructure construction is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft skills, including Excel and Word.
- Proficiency in construction scheduling, cost control, and contract administration.
- Strong understanding of DOT specifications and construction materials (aggregate, asphalt, grading, utilities).
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with HCSS Heavy Job, or similar project management and estimating software.
- Experience with Minnesota, North/South Dakota, Montana, Iowa, and Nebraska DOT projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
