Project Manager - Highway/Traffic

The successful candidate will have experience managing the design and delivery of roadway, bridge, and related transportation improvement projects. Working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, this individual will oversee technical work, project schedules, budgets, staffing, and construction support while ensuring compliance with applicable design standards.
This role offers the opportunity to maintain direct client relationships, provide technical direction to engineering staff, and deliver diverse transportation improvements for local, county, and state agencies. The Project Manager will also collaborate with Regional and Department management on proposals, business development, and opportunities to expand FPA's transportation practice.
Highway & Traffic Engineering & Project Experience
FPA's Highway & Traffic Department provides design and construction support services for transportation improvement projects serving local, county, and state agencies.
The Project Manager - Highway & Traffic will lead project teams, coordinate work across disciplines, and oversee projects from design through construction support. This role requires the technical expertise, leadership, and organizational skills needed to manage multiple assignments, resolve project challenges, and deliver high-quality work that meets client expectations.
Responsibilities
• Develop design documents for a variety of transportation improvements projects utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation Software.
• Provide construction support services as needed.
• Complete assignments independently with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with staff within the transportation group and across various other disciplines on larger projects.
• Delegate tasks to staff engineers and oversee their work.
• Monitoring of the project schedule, budget, and staffing needs.
• Actively participate in client contact and communications.
• Work with Regional and Department management on proposals and business development as needed.
Qualifications
• 7+ plus years of related work experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of New Jersey required.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil3D and MicroStation design software.
• Experience in management and design of roadway, traffic, and/or bridge improvement projects (NJDOT or PennDOT experience a plus).
• Highly motivated and eager to work on a diverse range of transportation improvement projects for local, county, and state agencies.
• Well versed in local and national design standards.
• Knowledge of traffic engineering principles is a plus.
• Willingness to represent FPA at professional societies and technical seminars.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation
The projected compensation range for this position is $115,000 to $155,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, education, qualifications, and skill set. FPA recognizes and rewards performance through an annual bonus program.
