Full Job Description

As our Project Manager, Generative Applied Innovation, you will help bring structure to fast-moving innovation. You will guide high-impact initiatives smoothly through their entire lifecycle, transforming complex production challenges into cleanly scoped problem spaces, driving cross-functional development with our Labs and Creative Innovation teams, and packaging solutions for seamless handoff to pipeline and production teams to implement at scale.

You will not just track tasks. You will help shape the operating rhythm that drives our innovation engine.  You’ll lead alignment with core research teams and stakeholders to facilitate a continuous feedback loop, ensuring engineering and research priorities align with long-term product vision.

If you are structured, curious, and resilient, and you would love to help shape how emerging technology becomes practical production work, we would love to have you with us.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, track, and lead the delivery of generative solution packages from initial intake and problem definition through workflow design, prototyping, feedback cycle and validation, and final handoff

• Establish and manage dedicated RACI structures on a per-solution basis across our Visual Pioneering, Research, Creative Innovation, Pipeline, and Production teams to ensure absolute role clarity and eliminate operational surprises

• Standardize the methodology for converting small-scale prototype solutions into production-ready packages, ensuring a clear bridge between initial validation and pipeline implementation

• Lead alignment on early reviews with Individual Contributors and stakeholders to systematically evaluate production bottlenecks; prioritize immediate workflow optimizations while strategically routing true capability gaps toward new tooling, platform evaluations, or collaborative deep research tracks that foster novel and foundational advancements

• Ensure all delivered packages are comprehensive, high-quality, and robust by incorporating custom workflows, tool prototypes, validation notes, documented limitations, workarounds, security considerations, and pipeline constraints

• Maintain holistic visibility across Generative Applied Innovation's strategic capability swim lanes (e.g., Sparse Set Restyling, Generative Relighting, Agentic Workflows), tracking risks, blockers, and resource trade-offs for leadership

• Partner with Learning & Development to oversee the creation of high-level documentation and training, ensuring a clean transition to embedded Production Workflow Support teams for long-term maintenance

• Champion our production engagement principles, maintaining healthy operational buffers so the team can solve complex problems deeply without getting absorbed by day-to-day production crises

• Act as an operational mentor, providing lightweight frameworks, tools, and guidance to help non-PM-led technical or creative initiatives structure their efforts effectively

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of project or program management experience specifically within VFX, feature animation, gaming, virtual production, or applied production technology ecosystems

• Strong understanding of core project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid frameworks). PMP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or equivalent practical certifications are a major plus

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, VFX/Film Production Management, or equivalent practical industry experience

• Comfortable working alongside senior technical talent in the GenAI space. Direct experience or familiarity with VFX pipeline architectures and enterprise creative tools/builders is highly preferred.   (awareness of the Generative Video tools and standard DCC tools is a significant plus)

• Proven experience supporting production technology workflows, specifically managing the delicate transition of technical prototypes or MVPs into fully supported, scalable production environments

• Demonstrated ability to bring rigid structure, clear documentation, and actionable plans to fast-moving, iterative R&D initiatives where requirements and market technologies are constantly evolving

• Stellar written and verbal communication skills, with sharp judgment on when to simplify complex technical bottlenecks for stakeholders and when to escalate risks

• An optimistic, collaborative, and solution-oriented attitude that treats technical setbacks and "failing fast" as a natural, valuable part of the innovation process

$70,000 - $150,000 CAD a year
