ABOUT THE ROLE

As a key part of the integrated design build team, the Project Manager for the EPC Team works to drive high quality, efficient and quick engineering, estimating, contracting, and execution of utility scale solar and BESS energy projects in California. The Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing the successful completion of a utility scale solar + BESS project. The Project Manager ensures the project is completed in a safe, quality, timely, and cost-effective manner. The Project Manager is the primary responsible individual for managing all project activities from the pre-construction stage through commercial operation and leads the client management responsibility.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures the project establishes a safety program and culture that is positive, respectful, and proactive at the project. Works with the Project Safety Team to continually review and improve the safety program.
  • Ensures the Project Execution Plan (PEP) is developed and implemented, trained, and proactively managed by the Construction Site Manager to prevent quality defects on the project and ensures supervision is proactively trained and utilizes our PEP to create a safe and efficient workplace, and to prevent reworks on the project and to provide a superior product to the client.
  • Develops and manages the client relationship during the project lifecycle with the goal of collaborating, serving, and building a mutual and trusting relationship. Proactively shares with the client project status and any events needing attention and provides solutions to the client.
  • Leads and ensures the upfront planning of the project and manages and ensures the development of and the adherence to the project schedule including engineering, permitting, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning with the project team. Ensures the team is conducting effective meetings and reviewing the metrics, key performance indicators, and the dashboard to understand actuals versus planned as well as the associated productivity of the work.
  • Scenario plans, develops alternative work plans, and helps the team overcome schedule constraints during the project.
  • Develops and appropriately staffs the project organizational chart and ensures adequate resources are provided to the project to meet schedule and budgetary requirements.
  • Manages and owns all financial aspects of the project while coordinating with Project Controls. Facilitates understanding of financials and cost to the project and construction team and ensures the supervision understands and is actively managing against budget.
  • Facilitates the transition of the estimate from the business development team to the construction team. Establishes and owns the budget, cashflow, payment structure, and invoicing process.
  • Provides monthly project forecasting of financial conditions.
  • Ensures receivables are collected in accordance with terms with clients and payables with supplier.
  • Leads the change management process with client, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Manages and controls the administration of the contract agreement between CSI and the client, as well as major supplier agreements, and ensures adherence to them by project team.
  • Ensures the growth and skill development of the project team on and off the project.
  • Brings the business development and construction teams together and leads the closeout process focusing on all critical aspects of the project and capturing lessons learned, project metrics, and considerations for future projects.
  • Communicates, collaborates, and updates leadership on overall project status and any help needed for improving safety, quality, schedule, risks, opportunities, financials, changes, people, and client relationships.
  • Works with purchasing team to coordinate equipment selection and ensure quality and timely delivery of all material and equipment to the project site.
  • Troubleshoots issues as they arise, evaluates alternatives, proposes solutions, and gains project team buy-in.
  • Makes recommendations to the leadership team which can possibly affect better safety, and higher quality and profitability.
  • Makes independent decisions and judgments to improve overall well-being of the project and the project team.
  • Responsible for observance and adherence of corporate policies and objectives.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications
  • The Project Manager preferably have a B.S. in an accredited Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Construction Management, related field and/or equal experience. (*)
  • 5-years or more experience with a proven construction related background and 3-years or more of self-perform construction experience. Experience in utility scale solar projects is required. (*)
  • LEED AP is recommended.
  • Cal OSHA 30-hour Construction training certification is required.
    (*) Can be a combination of trade, education, and relevant work experience.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Database experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Primavera 6 and Microsoft Project scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated experience in Construction Management and leadership.

Work Environment
  • Required to work on site as much as needed.
  • May work in varying weather conditions: hot, cold, and wet conditions.
  • Frequently works in areas with large industrial equipment subject to high noise levels.
  • May occasionally work in areas with hazardous chemicals.

  • Salary $110,000-$150,000 / year
    • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
