ABOUT THE POSITION

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing projects within the decided-upon budget, timeline, and scope. They will also effectively monitor and present project updates to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members.

Key Deliverables
  • Develop documentation for processes and procedures for projects.
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Develop a detailed project plan
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

  • Communicate, monitor and track progress


Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Serves as a single point of contact with customers on assigned projects from initiation of project to completion.
  • Obtains critical information from customer such as soil test report, applicable emission limits, verification of scope, and approval of layout in a timely manner consistent with the project schedule.
  • Conducts meetings with customer representatives as necessary to ensure the smooth flow of the project and customer satisfaction.
  • Exercises control as necessary to ensure the equipment and service provided are what was sold in order to ensure profitability of each project.
  • Maintains a correspondence file for each project. The correspondence file contains copies of letters, faxes, telephone numbers, conversation notes, e-mails, customer meeting notes, field drawings and sketches, layouts, and any other customer communications.
  • Monitors charges of labor, purchased parts, and raw materials to ensure only appropriate charges are accumulated on the project.
  • Monitors equipment design and drafting to ensure that equipment is designed and built according to specification.
  • Provides information and direction to Engineering Groups to ensure efficient, correct, and on-time completion of engineering work.
  • Secures the involvement of appropriate Regional Sales Manager whenever a change of scope of supply is needed. Changes of scope must be put into effect by contract addendum and work order supplement.
  • Leads/Participates in work order meetings, project initiation meetings, and other meetings as necessary.
  • Supports Sales and Engineering activities by visiting proposed job sites and collecting information.
  • Obtains any special paint requirements.
  • Closes projects out after completion by establishing a final punch-list together with the customer and other Astec departments, ensuring completion of all items for Astec action to allow collection of final payment.


To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
    • Four-year degree preferred, but not required.
      • Knowledge of blueprints and drafting required.
      • Ability to produce field surveys and measurements for new and retro-fit applications required.
      • Ability to make AutoCAD layouts required.
      • Basic Knowledge of asphalt plant electrical and control systems preferred.
      • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company and with customers required.
      • Ability to effectively work as part of a team required.
      • Ability to work with computers, send e-mails, write memos and correspondence is required.
      • Ability to travel overnight 60-70% of the time required and may include international travel occasionally.
      • Experience in the asphalt or construction industry is preferred.
      • Must be able to meet regular attendance requirements.
