We are hiring a full time permanent Project Manager, Distribution position working out of Hugh J. Bolton Service Centre in Edmonton, AB.

The Project Manager, Distribution is responsible for leading a portfolio of distribution projects and programs that support customer growth, new service connections, contractual obligations, and improvements to system reliability and safety. This role oversees all phases of project delivery, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, stakeholder approvals, resource coordination, risk management, and performance reporting, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. Working closely with internal teams, contractors, field crews, and external stakeholders, the Project Manager, Distribution proactively resolves issues and drives successful project outcomes, with project timelines typically ranging from three to twelve months. Reporting to the Manager, Distribution Projects Management, this position plays a key role in delivering strategic distribution infrastructure initiatives that support EDTI's operational and customer service objectives.

What you'd be responsible for
  • Contribute to business planning and align project delivery with Distribution and organizational strategies.
  • Develop and execute project plans and deliverables that support annual business objectives.
  • Prepare project charters, including scope, budget, schedule, assumptions, constraints, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor and report project performance, including budget, schedule, scope, and key risks.
  • Secure project funding and approvals in accordance with capital governance requirements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of accurate, complete, and constructible work packages for execution.
  • Manage regulatory, permitting, and stakeholder requirements with municipal, provincial, and industry agencies.
  • Coordinate and optimize internal and external resources to support project priorities and timelines.
  • Communicate project schedules, scopes, expectations, and performance requirements to stakeholders.
  • Procure, evaluate, and manage contractors and consultants while ensuring compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead project kick-off, design, and construction meetings for complex and high-profile projects.
  • Monitor field execution through site visits, risk management, issue resolution, and change control processes.
  • Conduct site inspections to identify and address safety and environmental concerns and support investigations as required.
  • Develop and maintain portfolio plans, project performance metrics, and resource strategies to improve efficiency, balance workloads, and meet delivery commitments.


What's required to be successful

Knowledge/Training/Education
  • Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in Engineering. A Professional Licensee (P.L. Eng.) in Civil or Electrical Engineering with extensive experience in trades, construction, or project management may be considered.
    • Must be eligible for registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Professional Licensee (P.L. Eng.).
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in electrical distribution systems, including direct design and/or construction experience in aerial and underground distribution systems.
    • Knowledge of aerial and underground distribution system construction methods, procedures, work practices and techniques is an asset.
    • Candidates with less than the required years of experience may be considered for a developmental position.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex capital utility construction projects, including progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and implementing new initiatives, programs, or process improvements.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Customer Connection Guide and EDTI's Terms and Conditions for Connection and Access Service.


Technical Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and control complex budgets and schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team within a dynamic environment.
  • Strong ability to develop, nurture, and manage customer and stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical or complex issues clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated strong decision making, problem solving, and risk management skills.
  • High level of proficiency with computer software and project management tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, IVARA, and other work management systems.
