Role PurposeThis role provides project leadership within a division engineering group supporting capital projects, facility building and infrastructure repairs, renovations, and process improvement initiatives. Project scope and size will vary from small to large scale based on portfolio needs and business demand. The Project Manager will lead projects through the full lifecycle, from initial planning through project closeout, while following Corning PM processes and procedures. This person will work closely with division and facility leadership, internal cross-functional teams, and external EPCM firms, and must be able to solve technically complex problems related to facility equipment, construction, and operations.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver strong project leadership thru the project initiation, planning, implementation and closeout phases
- Develop project scopes, estimates, schedules and AR budget documentation
- Develop and deliver clear and concise project presentations; such as, business case justifications, project financials and project status summaries to leadership
- Exercise sound judgment, solid engineering principles and utilize structured problem-solving techniques
- Lead, guide, coach & help develop internal functional and project team members
- Ability to multitask, lead multiple projects and actively work and participate in project teams in various roles and capacities
- Effectively listen and communicate utilizing multiple channels and means
- Flexibility is required
- 40+ hours per week. Onsite/in the field and office time required.
Experiences/Education - Required- Education: BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required; MS degree preferred
- Experience: 15+ years of engineering and professional work experience
- Core Skills: Excellent project leadership, presentation, communication, and organizational skills
- Leadership Style: Strong soft leadership, interpersonal, and team-building abilities
- Project Management: Experience with project estimating, cost control, and scheduling
- Technical Capability: Ability to apply project leadership and technical principles to concepts, designs, troubleshooting, and problem solving
- Problem Solving: Experience using structured problem-solving methods such as K-T (DA, PPA, RA), DESGN, and DMAIC
Experiences/Education - Desired- Proficient in MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint (Microsoft software suite)
- Proficient in SharePoint and collaborative workspace environments
- Corning Capricorn experience and certifications
- Professional Engineering Certification
- PMI certification
- Equipment installation, commissioning and trouble-shooting experience
- Facility design, operations and/or installation experience
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $116,625.00 - $160,360.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
