NSB Omega is searching for a Project Manager - Civil/Structural for our Utilities Client in St. John's, NL.

Assignment Description

Key Responsibilities
• Lead projects from initiation to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget;
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets, including regular reporting to NL Hydro leadership;
• Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure engineering designs, specifications, and deliverables meet corporate standards and applicable codes.
• Oversee and review tender packages, participate in contract evaluation and award processes, ensuring quality and value for NL Hydro;
• Manage project teams, including internal engineers, contractors, and consultants, to achieve project objectives;
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction activities, verify project progress, and provide support to site teams;
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks, and maintain the project risk register throughout the project lifecycle;
• Facilitate effective communication across stakeholders, ensuring that approved project changes are reflected in the active budget and schedule;
• Review and approve technical documentation, including commissioning procedures and designs.
• Ensure contractor compliance with NL Hydro's Contractor Safety Management Plan and corporate and Contractor HSE policies;
• Support the development of technical specifications.
• Lead project closeout activities, ensuring smooth transition of completed assets to operations;
• Promote continual improvement through lessons learned, innovative approaches, and sharing best practices with other project teams;
• Submit timesheets and documentation in accordance with NL Hydro's project management requirements;
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Required
• Engineering Degree in engineering registered with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) association;
• Registered as a professional engineer (P. Eng) with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) association (or other Canadian engineering association);
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive project management and/or engineering experience in Civil/Structural Projects;
• Experience leading project risk identifications and mitigations
• Experience with on site project monitoring at remote locations
• Experience in design, managing construction contracts and commissioning;
• Experience in preparing project estimates;
• Proven and demonstrated communication skills;
• Ability to thrive as a participant and/or leader within a multi-discipline team of both internal and external resources;
• Strong experience in project controls, planning, scheduling, and estimating is considered an asset;
• Proven experience managing complex projects in a remote environment;
• Strong background in coordinating and managing multidisciplinary project teams (e.g., electrical, civil, mechanical) and collaborating with design and construction groups;
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects on operational industrial sites, including contractor supervision and adherence to site-specific safety requirements;
• Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments and changing project demands;
