Role At a GlanceThe Project Manager is the first level of full project management responsibility, applying mature project deliverables knowledge in planning, coordination, and execution of difficult and responsible tasks. This prime consultant/client-facing role involves managing moderately complex, multi-disciplinary projects of medium risk to the firm. Responsibilities include contract preparation, monthly invoicing, problem-solving, relationship management, participation in business development activities, and supervision of supporting personnel.
What you will doProject Management:- Apply mature project deliverables knowledge in planning, coordination, and execution of difficult and responsible tasks.
- Assume full project management responsibility for moderately complex, multi-disciplinary projects of medium risk to the firm.
- Modify established guidelines, devise new approaches, and apply existing criteria in innovative ways.
- Investigate, advise, and solve unusual problems by devising new approaches or applying existing criteria in novel ways.
Client Interaction:- Serve as the prime consultant/client-facing role, establishing and maintaining client contacts to seek or provide technical information related to the immediate project.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and outside agencies to discuss design problems, explain design features and specifications, and manage other project control criteria.
Financial and Administrative:- Prepare accurate and timely monthly invoicing in accordance with project milestones and financial agreements.
- Seek advice and act on preparing contracts, ensuring compliance with company standards and client requirements.
- Be responsible for cost control of reporting personnel, with support from Project Coordinators or Junior Project Managers.
- Participate in the development of guidelines and initiate investigations by others to improve project processes and outcomes.
Business Development:- Actively participate in business development activities, contributing to proposals and identifying new project opportunities.
- Develop a thorough understanding of client needs and project requirements to support business development initiatives
Leadership and Organizational Development:- Complete WF PM orientation training in its entirety, continuing to develop project management skills through training and practical application.
- Make recommendations concerning staff selection, training, rating, and discipline.
- Assign and outline work, advise on technical problems, and review wor for technical accuracy and adequacy.
- Assist with various tasks and projects as assigned by supervisors or senior team members to support the overall success of the team and company objectives.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to our company values of quality, client focus, teamwork, sustainability, and community, integrating these principles into daily work practices and interactions with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
What you bring to the table - Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Applied Science, Construction Management, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in project management or related roles, preferably overseeing multi-disciplinary projects.
- PMP Designation or other related licenses/designations are considered an asset.
- Proficiency in contract preparation and project invoicing processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to devise new approaches and draw conclusions from comparative situations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
- Experience in business development activities is desirable
- Previous experience in staff supervision and management preferred.
