As a Senior HIT Project Manager, you will lead complex technology initiatives focused on Epic optimization, implementation, and continuous improvement. Working across clinical, operational, and technical teams, you will serve as the central point of accountability for project success, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with organizational goals.
The Role In this highly visible leadership role, you will manage multiple healthcare technology projects simultaneously, guiding initiatives from concept through implementation while partnering with stakeholders across UVA Health. Success requires strong project management expertise , exceptional communication skills, and the ability to balance operational priorities with technology advancement.
On a typical day, you will:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex healthcare IT projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
- Manage Epic optimization efforts, implementation of projects, enhancement initiatives, and strategic technology improvements.
- Partner with Epic application leaders, operational stakeholders, clinicians, and end users to ensure solutions support business and patient care objectives .
- Develop project plans, resource strategies, timelines, risk mitigation approaches, and status reporting frameworks.
- Coordinate vendor activities and ensure successful integration of vendor deliverables into project objectives.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, governance activities, and executive-level project communications.
- Analyze project performance, resource utilization , and key metrics to support informed decision-making.
- Drive change management efforts that improve adoption, workflow efficiency, and user experience.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to project teams while helping solve complex organizational and technical challenges.
- Support enterprise initiatives including Epic optimization, new module deployments, Gold Star initiatives, Honor Roll initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
This role offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement, typically requiring 2 to 3 onsite days per week based on business needs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
Experience: At least 5+ years of experience.
Licensure: PMP Preferred and require within 4 years of hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
The pay range for this role is $87,783.00 - $175,565.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
